i am trying to find out i have a 99 sunfire with a 2200 in it and im looking for an EGR blockoff whetehr it be a plate or whatever but every forum i read does not cover what is necessary to do it and how to go about it does anyone have a solution for me?
if you have a 1999 Sunfire, you do not have EGR.

what would be the emmisssions on it that i can delete or get rid of?

I don't understand your question. Your car does not have EGR. There's no EGR to block.

no i mean like emisssion wise what can i get rid of or delete to gain performance from... i.e. cat convertor or any other thing like that....

read the FAQ. The best exhaust setup thus far for the 2200 is a header (I prefer my OBX stainless steel 4-2-1, just stay away from the Pacesetter painted ones. Coated is good, but not their painted black ones). 2.25" catback setup, with a Magnaflow cat (part number 94035) and a 2.25" inlet muffler of your choice. There are a TON of exhaust posts to read through, just have to start reading. Do NOT delete your cat.

HOW ABOUT A 2000 CAVALIER WITH A 2200. IS THERE AN EGR IN THAT? WILL BLOCKING IT IMPROVE RESPONSE?

98 was the last year of EGR

98-02= NO EGR!!!!!!
removing ANY emmisions equipment off that car will not do anything for you but throw a code and make your ecu run in open loop all the time. this is not good you will burn MORE gas and go SLOWER while failing you emmisions inspection
adding a higher flow cat may hep a little but deleting it will relieve to much backpressure from the motor and you will loose compression along with all the other ecu issues will get

correction 99-02 = NO EGR.

ooops hope I don't get banned for that
and another thing, you have to remember these cars are not like the older camaros, monte carlos, and mustangs where you take the @!#$ off and you loose weight and get more power, j-bodys are alot more fickle than older v8's and such
removing the egr will NOT improve hp, tq, or "response"
It does lower NOx emissions. which is always a plus.
on my 99 head there is a egr port but there is a plate that blocks it off. the junk yard took the plate off so i had to order it from a dealer. on the 2000-2002 the port was removed.
eh, Sunfires... (Tom) wrote:removing the egr will NOT improve hp, tq, or "response"

And it's also there to lower the combustion chamber temperature, by sending the exhaust in the intake, the explosion is cooler than with just air and fuel. By removing it, the engine will be running hotter than normal!!!
Since it's things I only know in theory, I don't know the real changes on a car, at least never seen a before/after...

quite the opposite
plumbing hot exhaust into the intake raises the combustion temps. which helps for a more complete burn of the feul and therefore lower emissions. it also helps you car get to operating temperature alot faster
egr is crap.
i wonder what GM's reason was for removing it in the 99+ years.
i got 96Z24, with a 2000z24 motor, i had the EGR set up on there and then ripped it out and blacked it off (with the gm block off plate)when i installed the gm s/c. i just clear my EGR check engine light each time i start the car, it runs like a dream and i get 32miles per gallon with all my current mods, so dont sit here and tell me it effects gas mileage or does anything worthwhile. My engine runs at normal temps too.
f' that stupid EGR.

I just like when infos are right!!!
EGR is literally pointless. I don't know wy they didn't just scrap it earlier.

No, da ghost was right.
It effects the effictive displacement of the engine. So instead of all air and fuel. It's air, fuel, and exhaust gas(which has no energy/hc's left to burn)
egr is worthless.
why did GM remove it in 1999 if it was so important.
