anyone use stock muffler and aftermarket tip?

I would like to make my 2004 Sunfire a little louder. I have considered replacing the muffler and also keeping the original muffler and getting some sort of tip. Would a different tip make the exhaust any louder? I thought if I did replace the muffler, I might try using a chery bomb glasspack and put a chrome tip on it. My dad had one on his 4 cylinder ranger and I liked the sound.
Any advice would be appreciated.

A tip won't make the car louder. That's not what the tip is for. But use the Cherrybomb OE-style muffler, and it will be plenty loud. I had one before I put the Magnaflow muffler on, and it was loud as hell. Kinda raspy when it's cold but after it warms up it's okay. I tried different tips, resonated, DTM, they all sounded the same to me, but for looks I preferred the DTM style. I painted mine with black high-temp paint and it looked pretty decent. That's just me.

I cant remember who sadi it, most likely Event, but Noise does not make power, Power makes noise.

And no, a tip doesnt make noise. If you want more noise, get a fart can.

Thanks for the replies. I think I will look into a glasspack.

Trust me...go with an Magnaflow Muffler that is the same style as your OEM one. Looks beautiful and sounds nice.

So true...I love the look of my Magnaflow. It really does compliment the ass end.

I agree. I did the cheap Cherrybomb, but the Magnaflow is way better. Try to ge the stainless one, though. The aluminized one will work, but after a while it starts to rust. I got the aluminized one and it looked like crap after the winter. So I cleaned it off and painted it with high temp paint. to clean it up a bit. So far this winter it's holding up pretty well.
