timing problems
Tuesday, January 17, 2006 12:09 PM
ok there are two parts that i am asking here....i just rebuilt my 96 ld9 and i have the cam swap in it. first of all, when i first started the motor, it was all timed and everything, ran great and then some how my coil packs and coil pack wiring harness burnt up. i replaces those and went to start the car again and it wouldnt start. timing was off! i have know idea how or why. i drove it 7 miles and then all of a sudden the timing was off. what would cause the chain to slip or for the car to throw it self out of timing?

next, with the cams being bigger, when timing the car, the timing wholes on the cam gears and the housing only line up perfect if the cam is moved by hand backwards after it is set in a lift postion. should the cams be moved or should they be left as if they were turned and ended close to the holes but not exact?

please let me know anything even if i might already know or if you need more info to answer the questions. thanks alot!
