CAI Intake Install = Engine light

Ok guys,
I got my shirt throw and my AEM intake on today, no problems with install. I left my friends garage and drove home (7 miles maybe) and no engine lights, nothing. I got home, parked my car and went inside. I left to go to my GF's house and my engine light came on. I have the sensor in there right and everything is hooked up correctly. What could be causing this? What do I need to do to get rid of it?

Also, my fan comes on when the car is NOT running hot. Tomorrow, I was going to check coolant level, and disconnect battery for 20 minutes or so and hook it back up- take it for a drive and see if that fixes problem? Will this fix it? give the ECU time to adapt?

Thanks,
Chris Osborn

NEVER had a CEL come one because of an intake install. Just by gut reaction, I'm tempted to think something else is the reason for youre CEL. Please fill out your profile completely, especially your carq so that everyone can help you better since not all J-Bodies are the same. You certainly could try disconnecting the battery. Do that for now and give us an update.

You may have damaged your IAT sensor, they're pretty fragile.

Messed up or not plugged in. The sensor may be physically in the intake pathway.
But did you remember to actually plug in the power connector to the thing?

They run about $10-$12 at the autoshops around.
So its not so bad.

Yup, like I said, they're very fragile. A decent knock is all it takes to screw them up.

well funny enough at first it wasn't pluged in but then after we fixed that the sensor died lol

Chris: I had a very similar chain of events when I installed the CAI in my car. I thought I damaged the IAT sensor... come to find out I did not damage the sensor but the "pigtail connector" that goes into the plug that goes on the sensor. Replace the pigtail connector from your chevy dealership... it was like $20 and splice the wires to the original 2 wires. It took me 10 mins and after unplugging my battery for a few mins, pumping the brakes to get all electric out of the capacitors, plugging the battery back in... all was well. Apparently the stock wires that go into that plug are very weakly connected... replace it and splice it on and your problem should go away.

On ECO's the cooling fan coming on after you shut the car off is perfectly normal.
