ok my friends got together an baught me a SAFC II for my B day, The thing is that they baught it used and it didn't come wit any instructions or diagrams. i foung opp. instuctions on the website but they don't offer a wiring diagram for the cavi. So... i was hoping one of you fine j-body owners migt be able to help me out with what goes where. Any help would b greatly appreciated.
there wont be a direct diagram for the cavy or sunfire. you need to find the wires that are used and attach it throughthat. for mine i went right to the sensors for everything. really though your only tapping into the map and tps sensor if i rmember right. the map you need to interupt the signal and send it into the unit and then back out to the computer. s houlod be the wire that reads close to 5 volts at full throttle, like 4.7 i think. for the tps i cant remember, i wanna say the green wire but i might be wrong witout double checking my car. and really if i remember right thats all there is thats important. your supposed to run the ground wires to the computer about an inch apart but chris gill i believe has his just tied togerher and running to a ground and has no issues with it at all. and depending on the year of your car to get your rpm signal you can pull the cover off the fuse panel under the hood and just plug the wire into the tac signal spot there.
if none of this works out for you or if your still lost ill find some time to run out to the car and get the wire colors for you

thats cool i just went on the website and it freaked me out. it had all this crap telling if i didn't hook everything perfectly i'm gonna blow my motor. I'm puting it on an 04' trying to get it ready for my turbo. Just want to make sure i get it right
yeah the ecotec might be a little different with wire colors, god knows gm does some weird @!#$.
what the safc does is takes the signal form the computer and converts it to its own signal. now whne you get it installed youned to set it up internall, i can get you my ettings if you want, although ive only got the safc 1 so it might be a little different than yours for menus and locations of things inside of it. but the onyl way your gonna hurt your motor really is if you start to lean things out too far. now the other thing with the safc is that once you start to mess with the computer to a certain degreee its gonna kick your settings in the ass and recalibrate itself to ru nits factory set fuel ratio. so what some of us have done is removed the wire going to the o2 sensor. the o2 sensor is a primary source for the computer to get its air fuel ratio from and to adjust from there. if you get rid of that you can freely tune the car and make real power from it. what we found on the dyno on my turbo 2.4 is that once we changed the safc settngs and ran the car once, the computer would compensate for what we did and bring it all back to stock withthe sfac still tuned to what i wanted. meaning the coputer learned of the changes and adapted to get its 14.7:1 air fuelratio back, i believe thats what it wants anyways. so when we took the o2 off the car didnt have a source to read from anymore and let us do what we wanted. now the cxar threw a code for a few hours and then it went away. car runs and drives perfectly like this. im also using a wideband right now to monitor things t omake sur theyre all good and unti lthe point where i put the car away for storage everything was fine still.
hope that makes some sense to you

do you know if you can get a diagram from GM showing what all the wires going to and from the ECU are?
there should be some floating around on here somewhere. or get a haynes manual and use that, itll have the digrams. you could also go to www.autozone.com and chec their repair guide, they have wiring diagrams for some cars on there
