my buddy picked up a car today with a compelte msd system and in there is a launch control, now the car is a mazda so ofcourse the msd stuff is useless for my car, but i was wondering how wht elaunch control itself works. premature rev limiter possibly? trying to get some ideas, if i go with an msd setup id like to end up using this as i can get it from him very cheap

a two step works like this. well on our turbo sedan with a tuning platform called Uberdata, we set up the 2 step to launch at 4500 RPM in any gear. Then we made another chip for the same tune, but launching at 4000, etc etc just playing with it. The parameters are filled in by gear, RPM, and speed. For example, in first gear, if the speedo is reading less than 17 mph, the rev limiter is set at 4000. In second gear, any mph under 28, so on and so forth. It takes getting used to the car and figuring out what speed you need to be at for roll launching and how well launching at specific RPM levels allows you to kick right into your powerband.

thats an interesting toy youve got there man, i know ive been in a car with launch control before, it was a built gsr and his would hold his rpms under a certain limit until he got traction. think it was part of a standalone he was running though worked good though

Megasquirt has a really good, easy to tune 2-step platform as well if you decide to go that route.

If you're looking at an msd system, you need the dis-2 system. Comes with the "launch control limiter" and spark retard.

thansk guys. im deciding what way to go still, i o want to eventually upgrade the ignition on the car but havent decided yet what i wanna do. although everywhere im reading i only see good things baout the megasquirt system and i definatly think ill be getting one of these soon
