2 weeks away from my pistons. just wondering if you guys has any advice for putting the engine back together. Ive never "built" an engine before. I have alot of knowledge on how to do it and i have like 3 shop manuals. Any advice would be great thanks.

don't overtighten your rod bolts. and when you fit the head back on, make sure you spray your head gasket down good with a coat of Permatex copper spray on either side. And get a tap from a specialty parts store (you may have to special order it) for a M11 x 1.50 thread pattern. Retap the head bolt honles in the block to get any gunk out of there.

i havent been able to get pics on here cause my usb drive thing is broken but for real you can call cometic and get the part number for it. im serious that how much it was.

I believe you on the price, I dont believe you have the pre 98 HG, and I wanted to see a picture of it to prove that it IS the pre 98.
If so, where did you get it from? Because, Jtuners has not released any info on them yet saying they're available.
Make sure you have your firing order set up (the right wires on the right plugs)

I called Cometic (1-800-752-9850) today and talked to Kevin. He said they do make the head gaskets for the '98+ 2200 and the 2.2 Eco, but not the '97 & older 2.2 . If you've got a head gasket for a 2200, don't use it on the 2.2L, you'll have cooling problems, probably causing irreparable damage to your head.
thank you for clearing that up, it doesn't sound like jtuners is going to be getting cometic to make pre 98 HG's for quite some time. They took a big hit with the 2.4 and 2200 MLS HG's when they had them made.
sad news, I know
I was really hoping they'd come through for us.
is copper my only solution to higher boost pressures? I have one sitting here but, I wish they had designed one for us 2.2's. (pre 98)
97 2.2 OHV Cometic head gasket
