Modifying the EGR system....
that means you more or less modified the emissions...

here in california, that makes you not legal I believe. I'm sure you can get away with it though, seeing as the later ld9 came without an EGR, it was blocked from the factory.

Hopefully someone will have better things to say.

I have a 99 Z without EGR and I still had to make a block off plate because of the tube on the side of my header i just fabbed one up and it does just fine.

If you just take the EGR off though you will prolly throw codes and go into "limp mode" try and EGR sim sometimes they work other times they dont. Good luck with it though.

what i did is install a plate and plug the egr sensor in. i kept the egr in the engine so i could plug in the sensor, i threw a code not sure if its from this or my other mods i havent checked the codes yet

I'm sure it's an EGR Flow Fault code. I'm not saying I prefer old school carbs and vaccuum as engine management, but there is just too much b.s. computer junk on cars nowadays. Sure a lot of it is necessary, but a lot of it is a big giant scam too.

if you just block of the EGR you will have a check engine light.

I've already done the mani swap on my 98, and the way I have it is described just above. Blocked off, but with the sensor still in the bay and then the plug plugged in. All it throws is a "Low EGR flow" code and thats it. It runs really good. As far as passing emissions I would just clear the code, then take it to get the inspection. Whenever I left the battery unhooked overnight It cleared the code and didn't come back on for two and a half days....So yeah, that might work. Tests like that are really lax here in Missouri.

They will still see a readiness code. Which has to go away after a full driving cycle is performed. By then it will come back, and you will fail (considering if your state fails you for check engine lights)

Oh, okay. I didn't know that they do a whole driving cycle. Like I said here it is really not a big deal at all they will pass almost anything.
