i did some searches and havent rly found it to be very useful is it worth the $50 to change the pulley and belt?
Yes, for a $50 modification, it gives a noticeable gain.

Isn't it just quicker revs?

Basically. You're ligtening the load on the crank. The lighter the crank, the faster it can spin, the faster you can rev but this of course is all to an degree of course.

it really depends what you expect out of them
they wont make a night and day difference in your times or the butt dyno
but every little bit does help out
if your running a sound system , you would be better off with stock sized light weight pullies

Heres a question I've been beating around in my head. If I have a in dash DVD and upgraded speakers (no subs, amps, or all that) would a smaller sized under drive pulley be okay? I know where to get the crank pulley but are there other pulleys I can get?

yes, you will be fine. i had the rk underdrive unit forever on my car. i WOULD suggest, however, making sure your alt. works well...maybe even upgrading it to a 180 amp unit. like i did.
your headlights maaaaaay dim a bit if you are idling a lot at night time...but with a stronger amp, no worries at all...plus, youll still be goof it you upgrade to a better stereo system.
...don't hate!.. respect people that have talent, even if it is in something you don't like or understand.
Where can i get the right alt (got a linky)? Whats the stock amprage?

imo and underdrive will cost you in the end even with a high amp alt, BUT if your gonna spens 50 on a pulley and over 100 on an alt why not just buy a lighter stock sized pulley from rsm?! you will get the same gain with no side effects, and they even make a lighter stock sized alt pulley.
so if you buy an underdrive and a high amp alt you could of saved time and maybe even money getting the rsm one.
also, even if you get a high amp alt it gonna go bad faster that it should, its being underdriven and the life shortened, SO over years you may go through alt like crazy! Is that worth a 50$ pulley or does the other option sound better
?
i have the aem alt pully which is a little bigger, but if i get the underdrive crank pully which is a little smallerwould that be ok and not create any dimming or other problems? im wondering if the bigger/smaller pullys will offset each other and be ok
So for my eco, can i use other pulleys? like a z24? or do i have to get a ecotec crank and alt pulley?

I have the UR crank pulley and AEM alt pulley.. didn't have to switch belts, but the charging system still takes a hit, my battery can't start in the winter now if it's been sitting for a couple days, and it's only a year old. Gonna get a yellow top and try that out.

I'm sorry but I'm failing to see the connection between your oil leak and upgrading your crank pulley...

basicly having a biger alt pulley is even worse! It will underdrive the alt that much more.
But rsm makes a great crank and alt pulley for the eco,
Can one use the stock belt with the UR Pulley on the 2.4? Im thinking about getting one one day, as it seemed to be the lightest of the bunch (could be wrong), thus the most gains.
RSM is the lightest and its stock size. the Unorthadox Racing crank pulley is 14 oz, while the RSM is only 12. the RSM wont cause charging issues. Its not the size that makes the difference, its the weight. so my suggestion is to get the RSM ones, both the crank and alternator
this is my sig
RSM pulley is all you need.
I'll have a sig someday....................

if your crank pulley leaked after you put it on , you most likely didnt lube the new pluuey before you slip it on and it rolled the lip os the seal and created the leak
ive seen it happen alot , even just taking the stock pulley off and putting it back on
but to call it stupid cause you made a mistake (or the person that did it for you) is WRONG
we all make mistakes from time to time , its how we learn
I have the RK Sport underive for my ecotec and I havn't had any problems whatsoever out of it.
I've got the UR pulley on my 2.4 with no issues at all. I got it for $6000 and got a free 99 Z24 out of the deal. So I'm not seeing a reason to change it for an RSM.
