I'm pretty sure I lost a fuel pump on my cav, and I have every intention of boosting it in the next year or so. Rather then paying 275 bucks for the pump and sending unit....the blazer pump is 79 bucks. Big savings, plus better fuel delivery. With this in mind....will I notice a difference in fuel economy using an otherwise stock fuel system? (injectors/FPR/Rail)
There should be no difference in economy from stock. But since your pump was failing, you may notice a slight improvement.

don't do it. buy a walbro.
I am using the blazer pump with out cutting the cup and I have no fuel cut problems at low fuel levels. I do have problems with it on long drives. if I drive it around town for a half an hour to an hour I don't have a problem. but If I drive it out on the highway for that long it will start to whine real loud and the fuel pressure will drop (can accually see it on fuel gauge on rail) and will die here and there. I have plans to pull it this winter and put a walbro in.
I would try doing some more searching and see what you come up with.

walbro in-tank is the way to go.
I was a retard, and now I'm permanently banned.
why do a walbro on a stock system though? that is what don't make sense to me. I plan on doing a 6-8 psi (likely on a super 60), which can and has been done several times on a stock pump, so I'm thinking the blazer pump would be fine since I'm going to be stock for the most part with the possibility of boost down the road. seems like unnecessary money spent....now if I was planning on putting in 500+cc injectors in and going 10+ psi, I could forsee walbro being the only option, but for what I'm doing, I just don't see the need for a massive pump on a stock system
at 6-8psi i really dont even see the need for a pump, you can support that with 330cc injects and a modest fuel pressure

Paul, I just wouldn't trust using a used and stock pump from another non-related to J-body vehicle....just send the $90 for a walbro fuel pump and save yourself the headache.

the pump is overheating they are cooled by fuel. maybe cutting the cup would let more fuel to the pump to keep it cool
see ya!
unless your trying to run sustained fuel pressures in excess of 60psi theres really no point

Well i have had the blazer pump in mine for almost 2 years now, and it went in as a used pump, that came out of my 92 GMC Sonoma GT project truck with 58K miles on it. I did cut the cup and have no problems on long or short drives, 4-5 hour drives on the freeway to dallas or san antonio, or during he massive evacuation hasle here in Houston i sat in traffic for 9.5 hours with the a/c blowing with not a problem.
The only problem i do have is i cant suck the tank as dry as i could with the stock pump, but i can get very close, down to around 1/8 of a tank and then going around corners it sloshes and you see the PSI drop on my piler guage.
Anyways the blazer pump works great, and for your needs the walbro may be overkill, but either one will work well.

A brand new pump was put in my '98 I just bought and it makes a horrible whining most of the time sometimes it get's quiet, I do plan to boost it at some point. The noise drives me nuts aside from the rattle i get when the glove box is closed, is the Walboro pump noisy like alot of aftermarket pumps, and where's a good place to get one?
also using the Blazer pump in both my '02 and my '96....... other then the issue in the stock tank, where it doesnt drain it completely (doesnt matter, since I bent the level sensor arm to read empty at 1/8th tank.) It works great in the '96's fuel cell.
I thought about putting the Walbro 255lph in my '02, but the price didnt justify the hassle of swapping the pumps.

Anyone . . . anyone . . . . you?. . . you?
Walbro inline pumps are basically universal...you can buy them anywhere for a cheap price.

Thanks again though NJHK.
Walbro does make an in-tank fuel pump install kit. Go to
www.apeusa.com for a set for our cars, you might have to call them to actually get one though.
And you're welcome.
