no, the head in the block
Make Sure you Have a Torque Wrench you don't want to torque them head bolts to much or to little. You could end up Blowing the head gasket right out if they are not torqued right.

Yep, took me a weekend and I had no prior experience.
Yea it's not that bad man. I replaced the head myself right after I bought the car I have now. Once you get the gasket, get the cyl head off, make sure and get the top surface completely clean of any old gasket material that might be left on there. The torue specs for the LN2 motor can also be found at http://www.ny-jbodies.org/library/library.asp in the 2200 Specs section.
I was a retard, and now I'm permanently banned.
it only took me and my dad a day to fix a head gasket its easy on a 2.2
The Fel-Pro gasket is like $15, and the head bolt set is about the same (yes, you need it, they are torque-to-yield). It can be done in several hours if you have experience. If not, budget at least a day. If you cut the head off two of the old bolts, you just made an alignment tool for when you put the head back on.
easy...
in the last year, i;ve done
2 from Fallen Angel (mom and ashleys car)
1 from bubbleguts on JBO
1 from my girlfriend 3 weeks ago.
1 from Deb and Ryans car.
just add some time for the foul up clock and you'll be set.
