OBD 1 to OBD 2 swap
Saturday, October 29, 2005 6:54 AM
We are putting in a 2.4l motor from a 2001 Z24 into my 95 Z24. So far we have had to buy a new OBD2 exhaust converter because the manifolds were different and the one from the newer motor would not bolt up to the 95s stock exhaust. I have a header and a new intake manifold on the way. I have the old motor out and we are in the process of putting the new motor in. I will keep you guys posted on our progress.

We had an extra 2.4 laying around. If anyone wants to trade a 2.3ho for a 2.4 let me know. Another problem we ran into is the air pump and alternator bracket do not bolt up to the new motor. We are going to have to find a bracket for the new motor along with a new air pumpo and alternator. An aluminum bracket is going to be needed for the transmission. This is truly an implant. My hair is gonna be grey after this.

Yes the stock motor blew. The oil pump went out and the motor seized up.
More parts needed: Front transmission bracket from 2000 and Front motor mount bracket. Parts are going to be here tuesday so I will update then.

the caps lock button is your friend bro. all caps makes posts harder to read just an FYI. in addition to the HO swap being easier, it'll be faster too and we all know how many people are using 2.3 parts on the 2.4 because they are better. Trust me. It's a wiser idea to just swap in an HO.

yeah. I'm using 2.3 parts on my 2.4. hell just the crank pulley itself was worth its weight.

Well, motor is in. car runs great. The new motor feels like it has way more power than the last one did. We had to get new front motor mounts, tranny mounts, a/c and alternator mounts. New catalytic converter and a new bottom tranny mount.
I think it was worth the swap...I will have pics up in a couple days

Ha ha, LOL!

I meant... did he re-wire the whole car for the 2000 PCM and Class 2 wiring (like I did, and Nate did too) or re-wire it with a 96-99 PCM and stick with the pre-2000 wiring garbage.
