yeah I'm looking on doing some mods onto my car now but the max I wanna spend is $1700 for parts and I don't wanna kill my mileage (few miles I don't care) if I add another 75hp to my motor or wanna screw up the engine badly..........anybody have ideas?

I'll tell you this much, you won't gain 75 HP without spending big money (yes $1700 isn't alot). Either save your money for a turbo kit or you're gonna have to deal with minimal gains with bolt on upgrades. If you're talking about going inside your motor, I wouldn't do it unless you know what your goal is as far as performance.

To me it sounds like you just want a little pep in your step so Bolt ons are what you want.

well if you dont want to kill your wallet this is what i would do if i was you

do the secret cam swap, 95 jbody intake cam from a 2.3 quad 4
exhaust cam from a low outpuut quad 4 90-94
125bucks

ebay intake
maybe 30-60 bucks

if you are staying n/a go with a 2 1/4 exhuast
obx header, magnaflow high flow cat
500-600 dollars

then,
get a quad 4 56mm throttle body if you find it at a junk yard
50 bucks, otherwise maybe like a 100

quad 4 intake manifold
100 bucks

rsm lightened crank pulley 180 dollars
rsm lightened altenator pulley i think 80 dollars(both are stock size but extremly light)
ever 2.7 pounds of rotating mass in your engine that is removed will equal out to one gained hp

start doing free things to make you faster
take out the insulation on the inside of your hood
take out the sound deadening pads behind the back doors
floor mats, and if you dont care about looks gut the interior

of course do a full tune up, fuel filter, ignition system

this doesn't equal up to what you want to spend its less..... but it will def give you like 30hp prolly drop your quarter a good amount for an n/a car with just bolt ons, and cams

Sorry...
