More Header Trouble,02 sensor(CEL)

So I install my header , no cel for the first 2 day I had it on..
Yesterday it came on and it hasnt went off...

So i'm gonna assume its because of one of the 02 sensors..The wires on both of them had to be cut, The one in the downpipe had to be cut because it was too short and wouldnt reach the bung..

The other sensor had to be cut because i couldnt get the cat pipe off the car and it would come out, i didnt try very hard assuming it would be easier to just cut the wires instead of breaking something..

So here are my questions,

there are 2 white wires on each one, does it matter if i connect the wrong one?
>I tried every different combo with the white wires, took off the battery, pressed the brake a few times and it still came on..

Is there a special way that they have to be connected>? or something else I have to do to besides joining the wires?

Did you cut and splice the wires one at a time or for some reason did you just hack them all without seeing where they went to. If you did then yes thats probly your problem.

Well I know I got the grey and black right haha

However the white wires i'm not sure I've tried every combonation with no luck, i think..

i'd reccomend trying to get them to the same wires as they were originally. I didn't have to extend the 02-sensor, I just removed it off of it's plastic mount and had enough slack to run it down.

A few things to consider since we have the same header, although these should be universal.

I had a CEL code until I got the header welded to the cat. Then I had my brother tighten down the 2-1, and the end piece with an impact wrench.

Driving home from Rockville to Frederick, after about 20 miles the CEL cleared itself, and hasn't come on since.

So if you have an exhaust leak it may think that the engine is running lean. Have the code checked to see what comes up.

I had a cel the other day from my main 02 sensor. p0133 i believe it was. anyways the guy explain to me all the extra heat from the header may cause it to go off. plus the heat is going to shorten the life of the sensor. Go to a local autoparts store like autozone. they will scan your car for free and tell you whats wrong. then you can figure it out from there.

Not really sure why you cutt he wires to the o2 sensors, mine reached fine. At any rate if they are wired correctly and you are getting a code from the secondary sensor there is a simple way to get by it. You can either buy and o2 simulator or remove the sensor from the exhaust stream and put a plug in the bung. After i got my exhaust system done I knew that with the header and high flow cat it would throw a code for sure so my secondary o2 sensor is out of the exhaust stream and tucked away and secured up under the car and it has never threw a code since. The second one only reads emissions to tell the pcm if the cat is working properly or not. If it is reading plenty of o2 (outside air since its out of the exhaust) it wont throw a code.

the heat shouldnt make it go off unless the sensor itself is faulty....

o2 sensors work with turbos and turbo manifolds which get way hotter than N/A cars.

also if you have more than one wire....

cut one wire at a time.....and solder 1 wire together before moving on to another.

you think , get the codes scaned !!!!!!!!

also you cut the rear o2 sensor ?? INSTEAD OF UNPLUGGING IT ???

time to buy a new sensor , that would be alot easir that fighting with trying to get the wires right , because you think

the after cat is prob the 1 that is giving you the most problems , but best to have the code checked
