Redline Or SS engine

Would the 2 litre engine from the ss or redline fit right up to the cavalier transmission or would I need to do the tranny too. I was also wondering if the ecu is the same or not, I have a e manage so little adjustments could be made. Has anyone swapped to one of these engines yet?

I don't believe anyone has swapped the engines yet, the closest i've seen is Airtonic's 2.2L S/C which he did pretty much all custom if I remember correctly. Keep searching though, i could be wrong.

i really dont see why people wanna do this...the engine isnt THAT powerful and compared to the price it would take to do the swap its not really worth it...just spend a couple grand a turbo or S/C for your existing engine...youll be just as happy(especially since you saved so much money )

I have a turbo in my car already but instead of getting another 2.2L engine I was thinking of getting a engine that is built for boost already then I wouldn't have as much work to do. The new engine is also already a 2L so that would be cool and the bottom end can probably take alot more. So thats why I am toying with the idea

definately built for boost. my buddy has one and its sick, blew a 75 shot of nitrous thru it and it took it like a champ! Stock everything! Just a 75 shot, no timing retard or anything. For a GM motor, it can take it.

You buy the motor without the blower and put the L61 intake manifold and the TB, and just use stock L61 throttle cable.
With stock L61 ECU, I mean why do you need a supercharged ECU?
The F35 that the SS's are running don't worry about it because you can use the F23 that came in L61's .

The LSJ motor can easily handle 300whp bone stock.
I am pretty sure up to 340 or so, so if you have one available to you I would say deff. do it!!

I would have to agree...

Our motors are generally decent and all basically based around the same power. The only reason the 2.0 S/C motor looks appealing is because...well...it's supercharged! If you were to spend as much money on your current motor with some type of forced induction, you could surpase the 205 HP rating, easily.

Also Jeff, your motor is just like the 2.0 motor...the only difference between the 2.2 and the 2.0 is that it's destroked and a few minor changes (like the electronic throttle body).
In my opinion, not worth you spending all that money to change a motor that is pretty much like yours. I mean, if that motor DIDN'T come with a supercharger, it would be putting out less power than your motor is now because of lower compression and less displacement (less torque).

All in all, turbo your ECOTEC and call it a day...

Yea what about forged rods, and pistons and oil squirters.
Let talk about the LSJ head that OWNS L61 head with the flow any time of the day.

I mean the motor is superior to the L61.

I mean @!#$ the displacement.
