ok guys I need your oppinion on something. I am ordering a new muffler for my car soon. I know that it's going to be magnaflow and I know I want it to be a cylinder or a cannon as some call it but I dont know what size would be right. Should I get one that is 4 inches in diameter, 5 inches, or 6 inches?
I don't know about round, I got an oval and don't have magnaflow. My advice would be to go out and measure how long / what diameter might fit in there.
^^^good point. i've got 3.5" x 5.5" oval-tipped magnaflow mufflers. there is just enough clearance from the body. check how much room you have before picking a size.

the inltet is what really matters.....not just the tip make sure its atleast close to your exhaust size.

I would measure that not only for what will fit but for what will clear the road better. If you have a lowered car, you might want to get the oval due to clearance.

I went out and messured my inlet piping and it looked about 2 inches but does anyone know aproxemetly what size inlet is on a 2001 base model 4 door cavy? Also does anyone else have a round muffler that could tell me what sounds the best to them as far as sound?

If you're taking it to an exhaust shop, no, they should supply it for you and bolt it or weld it.

As far as best, no such thing. If you're going for lowest restriction then go for a perforated core muffler. There really isn't a best sound, everyone has a different opinion about what sounds "good". You will also want to consider getting a larger resonator to make it a little quieter. Most people on the board go with 14" or 18" one.
