Typhoon Intake

I searched already, but I'm curious to see results from more people. I went to the k&n website and the dyno they had for the 2.2 Ecotec exhibited a 5 hp gain with no torque figures. I'm sure the torque will be within the +7 to +9 range, so what do you guys think of this intake? It seems like a good buy to me...

Sasuke

My performance related stuff...

2.25" Custom Cat-back Exhaust
Tenzo R Lowering Springs
RK Sport Lower Motor Mount
StaticX Ground Cables
(K&N Typhoon SR Intake) (coming soon)

Best time in the 1/8th with only a 2.25" catback and a cone filter was a 9.790. Looking to get a 9.6*** with the current mod list.

^^^ not really, once you add up the bolt-ons, it would be stupid to keep the stock restrictive airbox. An intake does add power, only a bit if you have only that, but pair it with a TB, header and exhaust, and your engine breathes a lot easier, thus making more hp.

15.891 @ 88 mph stock, still getting @!#$ty launches...

Dante is right, an intake gains as much power as it's supporting factors. If you are stock and put an intake on it will only gain so much. When you start upgrading and getting rid of more restriction, that # goes up. You have to remember your intake connects to your TB, your TB will only take in so much...upgrade that for a bit more airflow. Then you have your intake manifold...upgrade that for more of a flow. Last factor is your cylinder head...port and polish that for more air flow and you've just upgraded your FULL air intake system. That's how it works.

Sasuke, I haven't heard any bad things about the intake but expect decent mediocre gains...like advertised 5 HP or so.

Thanks NJHK, it should be a noticeable upgrade from my cone filter.
I plan on buying a RSM throttle body to go along with it, so I expect some good gains with the combo. I guess we will see this Friday!

also to add, dont go too big on the TB....same as the TB will only take in so much, on a stock engine, it will only take in so much air as well.

the TB is like a human mouth... you can open it wider, which is like getting a bigger TB, but your throat and stomach will only let pass so much food, same as a bigger TB, will only let past as much air as your engine can physically take in...

if you look into throttle bodies, try and find whats volumetrically efficient for your car.

main reason....view this post http://www.j-body.org/forums/read.php?f=2&i=317135&t=317135
