Dyno Problem
Monday, August 15, 2005 8:26 PM
Well i took the car into have it Dyno'd at a buddy of mines shop on friday. It turns out he wouldn't even do it.

He said we would run it in 4th gear, i said yeah thats normal, and then he asked me if i had a limiter, i said yes its at 107. and he said we cant dyno it until you cut the limiter.

so i unplugged the stereo and then he still woulnd't do it because he was afraid of a security system or something.

I tried to reassure him that it was ok to run it like this but he wouldn't do it unless it was professionally done.

So what the hell should i do? Throw a toggle in on my SCV wire and make it look purty so he thinks its professional or tell him to screw himself and go pay someone to do it?

Doesn't sound like much of a "buddy" to me. Take it to someone else with a dyno, they should be able to program the dyno for your speed limiter.

why the hell would you unhook your stereo...LOL. thats the most assinine way around the limiter ive EVER heard. its much simpler than that.

Your friend doesn't know what he's talking about...your car would barely go past 107 even if you had no rev limiter but just think how many people have gotten dynos on the org, you think they were willing to get rid of the limiter?

Like said before, take it to a PROFESSIONAL because evidentally your friend isn't one.

your car in 4th gear will hit max hp just shy of 108 anyways like they said take it to a pro. sucks to hear your friend cant hook you up

Correct me if I'm wrong you mean speed limiter, not rev limiter correct?
First they can run it up to the limiter, and hit it no harm done.
Second I would either find out how to get around the limiter, or do it in third gear, so the limiter is not a issue.
I would not dyno with this guy because he does not seem to want to do it anyways.

I thought that most dyno runs were in 3rd gear as it is closer to the ideal 1:1 ratio....?

*btw that is dumb......speed limiter....sheese....and the alarm........please......

Ok you guys are right about my buddy not really knowing what hes doing so good. But the problem is he has never dynod a jbody before, hes new to the whole dyno thing, he just got one in his shop so he doesn't know what hes doing.

The reason i pulled the strereo was because it was easy. The way i have it hooked up i can just reach back behind it and pull off the wiring harness.

And yes this does work because of the speed controled volume.

So i dont really want to shell out the cash for a dif. shop to do it on. So im going to have to just wait i think until the retard can figure it out. Im still mad i drove a long arse ways for nothing.

And you guys say i shouldn't pull the limiter this way? Is there a reason why? or is there a better easier way to do it "right"

So you know 100% that if you disconnect your radio it will allow you to go over 108?? You have tried it? I'm not asking for you think because of the radio volume. I want to see that you have tried it??
Second if he is a buddy, and the radio trick works then I see no reason why he can't do it.
