when a shop welds an exhaust do they weld it on or off the car?
about 95% of the time... it's on the car.

o ok, that makes sense then. just seems like it would be a pain in the put to try and weld the large piece on at once.

They weld it in sections...spot weld pieces together up on the car, and then finish weld it off (so they can get all the way around), then fit the next section.

i just put my magnaflow cat back on and it will be getting welded at the clamps when the header, cat, resonator go in. so i was wondering if they are going to be dropping the whole cat back out to weld.
they will most likely drop it far enough to weld it all the way around , but not take it completly off the car
