RK Sport Header Q&A
Saturday, August 06, 2005 9:17 PM
I just have a quick question about the RK Sport 4-2-1 Ceramic Coated Header
...I read somewhere that there is some sort of fitment issue with this header and was just wondering if anyone out there has any experience with it and if there actually is a fitment issue what is the issue and how can it be remedied

you have to relocate your cruise control if you have it, but other than that i love mine. it's also a good idea to check the bolts to see if they need re-tightening after 500 miles or so.

NOt to thread jack or anything, but i too had a question... the pic they have shows a flange, so does that mean it bolts up to the rest of the exhaust?? I remember my exhaust having a 3bolt flange where the catback comes to the downpipe though.

notice the website says "picture might not be actual product"... probably isn't. it should be designed to bolt up to your factory cat, which should be that 3 bolt flange.

I don't know too much about the rksport header, i think your asking about the 4-2-1, and it looks alright, before you buy, think about long term. Do you want to supercharge or turbocharge eventually? the 4-2-1 is good for n/a or turbocharging, and then a 4-1 type header will be better for n/a and supercharging.im not sure for n/a which header is better. I have a 98' sungire gt, with the 2.4L LD9 motor, I have added a weapon R dragon intake, magnaflow super high-flow mirror finish 2 1/2" cat, and the rksport dula catback system. I bought the OBX Racing Header, the 4-1 header, and i have everything on now. I have had no problems, there was no codes thrown, (cel) sometimes get thrown if its not installed right, I am very happy with everything, it is loud, raspy until the cat warms up, but it dooes sound mean. Anyway the header i got from OBX Racing Sports, only paid $155 american plus tax shipping etc.....and installed easily, and sounds great. Now when i did this exhaust upgrade me and my mechanic lengthened the wires on the header o2 sensor, and we moved the cat back about 4 inches from its original location, and welded the sensor in about 2inches after the cat, if you would like a vid of how the car sounds, email at powder_riding2002@yahoo.ca......peace out, good luck,

Well,
For turbos, you wana get the exhaust gasses out as quick as possible so 4-1 works.

Supercharging can go either way, as i understand you're basically forcing more air in.
So lil more torque range 4-2-1. Lil more kick 4-1.

For NA, again you can go either way.

You do realize that you can't use a header for a turbo application, don't you?
That is, unless its a header-style turbo manifold.
