AEM CAI for Ecotec Cavy Question..
Saturday, July 16, 2005 4:39 PM
I am getting a CAI for my 03 cavalier 2.2L ecotec.

I want to get the AEM CAI system because of the hp/tq that it claims to make. It seems to be the best system for the ecotec. My question is, why does the system say for cavaliers with ABS? I do not have ABS, will this make a difference?? Is there a crucial mounting point on some ABS part?? Also, I have a 5-speed, does the Clutch resivour bracket come with the AEM intake? And finally....where is the cheapest, most reliable place to order it online?

Thanks Guys!

I can help you out a little bit... I got mine from Summitracing and No the clutch bracket didn't come with it, and I also recommend getting a by pass valve, some people don't, but I got it just in case..

For the clutch, I just hooked mine up to the bracket at the far end of the engine bay that was being used to hold the stock airbox, used a few washers and screws and with a little bit of persistance, it went in good.

Don't have ABS, and didnt affect it. If you need any specific pics, I can snap some.

Don't bother with the bypass filter unless your area gets flooded often, the fender linings and the bumper cover it completely.

I'm assuming everyone elses sounds the same as mine, you cant hear it till you floor it, then at about 3000RPM its soooooooooooooo deep sounding (you kinda have to hear it to believe), then the sound dies off as you get higher and higher in the RPMS, still louder than stock though. As for power increase, sure I believe the HP/Tq ratings - which are good - but you cant really FEEL a difference.

Really? Those gains are so minimal too. What are you paying the $250 bucks for then, just the sound? lol
