Water/Alcohol injection

I was hoping for some insight on the topic. I have read into it quite a bit. Water injection has been around for awhile and I was wondering if anyone had done it on one of there cars in here. Im probley going to make my own kit. The two main benifits from it are, steam cleaning the engine, and colder more dense air intake. But just mainly keeping the engine clean. You would know what I was talking about if you ever changed a blown head gasket where coolant ended up in one of the cylinders because it will be alot cleaner then the others. I heard it promotes engine life and gets rid of carbon build up. This is mostly used on turbo cars. With a turbo car if you run a 50/50 mix on alcohol/water (washer fluid), It will raise the octane which allows you to raise the boost which give you more power. Im debating on 2 different ways of injection. One is where I run a line off a washer bottle pump to a fixed orifice tube into the intake. Another is where I would atomized the water then suck it into the engine with a small vacuum leak. This works by putting a vent tube into the bottom of the washer bottle and a small vacuum line off the intake in the cap of the bottle. It will make the air bubble from the bottom of the bottle and atomize it when it bursts at the top of the water. the vacuum line from the engine will not be submersed into the water. This would be very cheap and a low maintnence system. People have claimed up to 4 mpg increase, But I wont hope for much because the O2 sensors will detect a lean setting and richen the fuel. Anybody try this before? Please post some comments

I have seen first hand at the cleaning power this does.. Working on my old mans 87 Buick GNX.. opening up the engine i could have eaten off the insides... and it boosts the octane about 10 points (approx) so 94 --> 104
