a/f ratio problems.. yet not
Wednesday, June 08, 2005 3:02 PM
Driving home tonight i notice my a/f gauge was hanging out lean when i was on cruise at 72mph. I have never seen the gauge hang out that low for very long, normally only when i let off the gas and slow down. The car didnt drive any differently, but the gauge worried me, when i stepped on it i would still get a rich reading at wot.

Any ideas or suggestions to troubleshoot?

when you let off the gas completely in gear it should go full lean, when you step on it it should go full lean, what your describing is completely normal

when I have my cruise set at 70 mph, it still hangs very low lean, sometimes when I let off the gas, it goes so lean that there are no lights on, now when i step on it it bounces from full lean to mid rich.

Like I said there is no performance issue, just that I know it isnt following the same pattern as it used to. I will post a vid tonight when i get home showing it.

I wouldnt worry about it a Narrowband is nothing more than a light show anyway

only worry i have is when i go to do nitrous in another month or so, i know i dont want to be running lean. How else can I test it to make sure I am not running that lean, would my best bet be getting a wideband im guessing.

Also is it possible the gauge is going bad?

yes get the wide band o2 , the narrow you have now is just a pretty light show

talk to karo@carcustoms.net for the wide band

so the numbers displayed on the gauge are actually the numerical a/f ratio? what kinda behavior should I look for on a wideband, ie numbers or light movement
