My one buddy I believe has a 98 Escort ZX2. And his air intake (WAI) makes a quite loud whistling noise from 4,500RPM's and on..Basically I want one...I'm pretty sure its the type of cone filter he has on it. It looks like a typical cone but on the end, it has a mesh screen and we're 99% sure thats whats whistling at the high RPM, but I can't find this type of filter anywhere...Does anyone know what i'm talking about and where i might be able to find one of these buggers?
its whistling because of the velocity of the air, a bigger filter probably wouldn't whistle.
if you want one.. take a pic maybe someone will recognize it
i had a vibrant filter that whistled, replaced it with a bigger K&N

the ricerboy civics do that too, one guy at my job, his tweets during idle. nothing more than a standard injen intake. probably due to a small TB, small filter, cheezy filter, small piping, something like that. basically, DONT BOTHER! you'll get laughed at anyway.

i think the only whistling sound should be from a turbo or supercharger.... and even that i want quiet so its some what low key..... even my exhaust i want as quiet as i can because i feel like a tool driving around in a car that makes lots of loud noises...

My brother-in-law just put a throttle body spacer on his Silverado that makes it whistle under light and medium acceleration. It was some kind of threads on the inside, he said.
