Anyone here know how much it will cost to get a complete 2.4 DOHC auto setup and to have it put in my car? And if you guys have had it done where did you get it put in at?
some people install it themselves....
others get em from junkyards locally and get it installed by local shops...
for prices you will have to call local places and find out. it differs everywhere.
can be 1000$ for install or 1500$
for an engine, tranny, computer, wires, hoses, can be 500-1000$ to 2000$
Is it worth it? I have a 2.2 pussy and its slow
Depends what your car is worth to you.

for 35 hp and possibly running the same times you could have with the 2.2? to me it isnt...
thats my view....

read that post, jsunfiregt2000 said the 2.2 is slow, but then i posted a 2.2 3 speed auto that runs just as fast as his 2.4 automatic... at the SAME track.
doesnt matter what you swap in really, its not gonna be much faster unless you build it up before you install it.
2.2;s run 17;s stock....2,4 autos run mid 16;s stock on avg....
feel like paying a few grand for a seconds worth of improvement?
your call.
or you can spend the money that you would prob spend on parts to accomplish something like this

like said, its your call... alot of people say swap an ecotec or 2.4 in their car, but in reality they arent much faster stock, you still are gonna have to build them up.
but overall its gonna be your call.
I got lucky on mine I guess. I paid $250 for my install. Had a friend do it tho. What I meant is, if it's worth paying X amount of dollars for you to have it dropped in then do it. If not then you know what to do.

if you do your homework and research you can do whatever you want with you engine you have now..
the car pictures above has no nitrous or turbo...
if you wanna be fast, then start reading up on how to be fast. it doesnt take much, i promise you, but there are fast cars simply because people actually did their homework.
Is your car running now? If so I'd build it for boost then turbo it. You can make any car fast. Cubic dollars beats cubic inches. Granted some engines take more cubic dollars then others.

Get a same-color 2.4 car and just swap your improvements over, then sell your current car.
It'll cost you like $200.

so what are some cheap (>$500) mods that i could do to my engine to make it faster that will make a noticable difference?
not a whole lot. your normal intake, header, and exhaust would only get you 15 hp maybe. if you want to go fast, then spend more money
Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!
Start with your basics. Intake, exhaust, header. You can get a nice exhaust for Around 300. Maybe a bit less. Get a prefab intake for like 200 unless you make your own.

If you're dead set on swapping the engine (I'm kind of wavering right now about the same swap) check out
http://www.necoengines.com . For my area they quoted me $3500. That includes everything from long block to oil filter, and installation. Plus it comes with a five year warranty.
I may not be the sharpest crayon in the box, but at least I'm a pretty color
^^ yeah I just don't get it. Sell your car and get the Z. IT's so much cheaper. Someone please explain to me why you would want to do it any other way short of you have a $5000 paint job that can't go with you.

I have nt painted anything yet thaty coming soon
