ITB system

I was just wondering, has anybody ever thought about doing an independent throttle body system on their car? Just curious, as to what would be needed to be done to do it. Thanks

an individual throttle body system has been done on a quad 4 and i have seen them at the-race-shop.com however it's useless for the 2.2 / 2200. for an eco... not sure. i'm sure someone some day would come out with a method. but that's not for street use.

ive seen people adapt motorcycle itb's to smaller 4 cyl engines using megasquirt to make it all go. no reason you couldint do it to basicly any engine with a little time in a machine shop with the factory intake. and it would be verry streetable if done right enought to make more power then the stock setup.

yea about the leaf thing I was told they use microfilters in the systems or something liek that for the filtration process. I still dont know though, it would depend on the gains and the cost

homemadeturbo.com is a site for cheap junkyard type projects. and an ITB system is HARDLY that. ITB systems are expensive and the way i see things, there's not really a point unless it's a drag or circle track car.

Why is it pointless for a 2.2/2200? I doubt I would want to run that setup on my car, but I am just curious. I don't know much about ITB.

New sig in the works

It has been done on a 2.3 because Olds did a 1200hp version so an ITB system was good. for an engine that has 120hp and a redline of 5800-6000, it's plain useless. There's not enough air coming in.

a 120hp 2.2 8valves with a 6k redline

VS

a 1200hp 2.3 16Valves, big cams, 9500rpm redline.

function over form ANY DAY
Yeah, they are expensive, when someone else designs and builds them...SO ARE TURBO SYSTEMS.
Sometimes it's not what is necessary, it's just what seems fun at the time. I doubt if anyone on here NEEDED to modify their car, but guess what?

Thanks for the link notec, really appreciate it. This might just be do-able after all =)... I just need to work on peicing together what I need for it and getting the machine work started. I just wonder what the possible gains would be, but looks cool as @!#$!
