does anybody here know where i can get 3.0 exhaust pipe 4 my 03 cavalier?search around local muff shop and couldnt find someone who can do madnrel bending
yeah thats d plan going custome made pls..help thanxs
if you aren't running 12 psi or above already, you have no need for 3" exhaust. just wait until it's running correctly with that much boost and then do the exhaust. the majority of exhaust shops do not have mandrel bending machines. most of them use press bent piping, which works good enough. the gains of mandrel bent to press bent are insignificant.
I was a retard, and now I'm permanently banned.
okey so 2.5 pipes is what im getting but where?,like it mandrel bent, and i read the comparison between 2.5 and 2.25,2.5 outperform magnaflow 2.25 so im going 4
2.5 my cousin driving a miata has 3.0 pipes and perform great!
all the online places that i know of sell 2.25 inch. looks like youmight have to look a little harder for what you want around your area

Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!
jegs or summit, if you def need 3 inch
im looking for 2.5inch exhaust pipes thats will fit my cavalier 2003,cos i know that stock pipes size r like 2inch and my muffs inlet is 2.5 and therefore need to have a bigeger so itll fit,i know heard about the adapter but dont want to have thing welded just so my muff wud fit!
....isuzuperformance.com used to sell a 2.5 inch system..didnt look too good, in my opinion. i dunno if they are still in business or not, and also dont know if they have an app for your car...
..a 3inch pipe on a miata? no way. those engines are 1.6 or 1.8l (depending on the year), and make like 105whp. if your friend has an n/a miata with a 3inch catback, his car will be real loud...and thats about it. ive got a 2.5 inch crushbent pipe on my car now, and it is too loud, and by my butt dyno, ive lost torque, im changing it back to 2.25 soon. and like spotabee said, crush bent really is just as good as mandrel. exhaust gas isn't that picky, doesnt change the volume of the exhaust pipe enough to make a diff.
...don't hate!.. respect people that have talent, even if it is in something you don't like or understand.
it doesnt make any difference if im just gonna have it welded does it?
i mean 2.0-2.5 adapter or go 4 complete 2.5?and like how much is average
cost 4 muff getting welded?complete exhaust?
...patrick, it varies quite a bit. I've got a friend who works under the table at a local exhaust shop who charges me next to nothin...and ive heard of costs as high as $200.00 for changing / welding a complete exhaust system. best thing to do is just put in a call and see. I wouldnt think it'd be too much..depending on your area, i know a lot of boys out in the country in nc (where i live) will do it cheap. but no, it makes no diff. if you weld a reducer to it or not, no performance gains/losses.

no gain at all?ur in nc?can u hook me up live in mooresville man!quoted $65 just to have it welded is this a litlle bit pricey???
In order to get 2 1/2", you have to get it custom made. No companies make/sell 2 1/2" or bigger cat-back systems. I personally have 2 1/2" cause I plan on boosting SOON and mine was custom made by a shop over by here. 3" is really only necessary when you boosting decently high PSIs. Mendrel bend is the way to go, so your on the right path. Good luck with your search.

1. If you think your going to get someone to make a custom piping setup for 100 that is mandrel bent, you have the wrong idea...
2. You need someone to physically make the piping against your car for it to come out perfect otherwise IF someone did send you the piping, there is a possibility it will not fit.
Like we said before...find a shop in your area to do it so you can get a guarantee fitment and if anything goes wrong with it, you can always take it back to them to fix it.

Putting it on and making it is 2 different things. Now if your paying $65 for them to make the piping...the quality will more than likely be poor. Like we said before, if your going all out with a turbo exhaust setup, a proper exhaust system is a MUST. You want it to flow properly. When it comes to high power, you want to spend good money on a good quality setup. Continue to find a place that will do it.
Do a search for people who live in your area/state/county that have a modified j-body and ask where they got their work done. Otherwise you'll spend your money on poor quality piping.
Also, I would suggest getting a turbo kit instead of trying to build a turbo setup...I think doing a custom setup yourself will be a little over your head. Who would install it for you? You said before that there are no performance shops in your area and I know that a regular shop will not install a turbo kit on a car. Just curious.

Bro, if you want good reliable power, you have to spend money and not be cheap out it. The theory is you get what you pay for. If you go the cheap route and have problems, that's your fault cause you wanted to be cheap. My BEST advice is buy a kit and take it to a professional. Unless your cousin is a professional, I wouldn't suggest you take on a project without having people with the proper knowledge helping you. I know different people with Js and custom turbo setups who have problems with them and they are VERY knowledgable about the how a turbo setup works and should be installed. It's much more sufisticated than just bolting a few things together and making a couple pipes.
If you want, go into the boost forum and ask questions of what you should do if you don't believe me. TAKE IT TO A PRO and you won't regret it.

oh!!his a pro alright he works for extreme performance SC,but yeah ur right its much beter to buy a set put it up urself and just get a bigger turbocharger to upgrade!
just curious bout muff with stock pipes no gain at all????
Patrick Carter wrote:just curious bout muff with stock pipes no gain at all????
some but not much, stock mufflers are restrictive, and a straight through is a start...
any meineke can compression bend pipes, you wont be able to tell it's not mandrel unless you have a micrometer. 2.25", 2.50", 2.75", 3.00" are all up to you and bernouli. if you wan't stainless pipes you can get then from summit/jegs. aside from that, just think that if some company made a 2.5" cat-back exhaust with stainless pipe and some glass pack cannon muffler in the J body market, it would be at least $300. so don't think that spending $100 on pipes and $100 to fit/weld it is expensive.
CAR GODS MADE THE 1.6 SOHC TO MAKE US 2.2 OHV GUYS FEEL BETTER.
