I would think it is most likely your exhaust hitting your heat shield. Does it get worse when you hit the gas. Jack it up, turn it on, have your girlfriend play with the gas pedal and listen and look around under there. Make sure you have it good and secure before you go under. It's tough to spring back once you've been flattened.

I'm guessing you have the 2200 in your car. Both the 2.4 and the 2200 have similar exhaust after the exhaust manifold but if it is a 2200 you will have a heat shield that runs from just behind your engine pretty much down to your rear (just before your back tires). It is unlikely that the heat shield itself has come loose. What is more likely is your cat or piping is hitting the shield itself. This should not be happening being that the mass majority of your flex when your engine shifts (when you hit the gas) should be taken up by your flex pipe (a small section closer to your engine - braided - just before your catalytic convertor. Again it is unlikely that it is the connection (flange) that bolts your cat to the rest of your exhaust. My guess is it is the muffler strap/band which wrapes around your muffler has come loose causing play in your piping allowing it to rattle. Like I said the only way to be sure is to jack it up, turn it on and press on the gas while you try to pinpoint the rattle. Once your able to locate exactly where it is coming from you will be able to figure out the best solution to solve it. There is only so many things you can tighten so instead of tightening everything up and hoping for the best...first diagnois the problem. Good luck.
