Installed my OBX header on my 2200 but the O2 sensor is too short to reach the bung on the down pipe. Anyone have this problem and know a solution?

easy. cut the wire, add in wire. solder.
No that did not work. The check engine light came on. I now have a second sensor being that my original will not work any longer because it has been spliced. I'm wondering if there is an extension or something that someone sells. If there is someone out there with an OBX on a 2200 what did you do? Help.
i'm telling you what i did.
all an extension is gonna do is the same thing splicing in a new wire does.
and not just splice...solder it. if its not soldered, the connection has way more potential to be a bad connection.
with the new pacesetter header you have to do the same thing...
and on the header i installed on psucav99/helmetboots when i posted his obx header, i had to do the same thing.
listen to event he is right
04 sunfire auto, mid 15's n/a, and still going
where does the OBX header put your o2 sensor? the 4-2-1 OBX header i have put the bung in virtually the same spot it was...
I was a retard, and now I'm permanently banned.
the 4-2-1 put the o2 in the 2-1 joint in the upper section , and doesnt read all 4 cylinders
the 4-1 put the o2 in the extension pipe just below the ac compressor
both designs are copies of the pacesetter header
caspers and a few other companies sell extensions
mine friends just cut and crimped the wire extension , and havent had any problems , and 1 has been done like that for a couple years now
it best to use a oxygen free copper wire , of the same gauge wire or a little bigger , and either solder and use a sealing heat shrink tubing , or to use a heat shrinking style butt connector that has the sealing glue in it also
the heat shrink style is what chevy uses for wire repairs under the hood
Okay boys I'l try it again. Take it apart, check the solder, resolder if needed and put the baby back in. Hey, maybe it is something else that is causing the light to go on. Thanks for your help, especially you Event.
Another problem. My engine fan seems to run all the time know that I put the header in. It comes on when I first start the car up and only shuts off when I turn the ignition off. Any ideas...
I resoldered the wires and reinstalled the sensor. The engine light is still on. Do I need to reset the ECU?
umm Yes. Disconnect battery for around 20 mins.
Also, whenever your CEL is on, its in Safe Mode and fan will stay on til the Light is OFF.
Everthing is fine now...thanks to people like you who take the time to help out. Much appreciated.
thank everyone, lot of tech info here, especially from 97cavie

thats the extension wire kit from casper electronics, they also have the IAT extension kit. both are available in different links for the hidden routing I did.
wow you paid 25$ for that plus shipping?
pricey.
hell no, I went to an electronics store bought the connectors and did the wires myself. I think I used 12 gauge or 10, the mechanical or whatever wiring you can get from autozone. It has less resistance and works better than that crappy wire they send with the header.

Not having mommy and daddy pay for everything = priceless
Having the same problem. I'll try to re-solder the cable. I HATE pacesetter right now, useless SOB's. Do some gdamn research before you put a kit on the market.

that's what happens with 4-1 headers. my 4-2-1 header doesn't have that problem. granted, it only reads off 2 cylinders in the collector, however... it works.
