Best low-dollar performance mods?
Sunday, May 15, 2005 3:17 PM
I have a 1989 Cavalier, and was wondering how I could get it to run 12s for as little as possibe...

I saw an aluminum wing at pep-boys. Will I need the extra downforce with the speeds(105+) I want to be hitting?

I thought about nitrous, but it looks dangerous, and I don't have a laptop to watch the manifold presure. I don't want my engine to break like it did in the movie.

So will I need a turbo-booster to go in the 12s? I only have about 1500 to spend.

relocate your IAT sensor, get a venom 400 module, electric supercharger, the famous and all powerful Ebay Chip. that alone wil get you at least 75 horsepower. not to mention aluminum wing at pep-boys will help with downforce on your front wheel drive car

are you serious? or are you messing with us. im not gonna flame you because youre either quite a jokester or really new to cars. don't buy a wing. look around the forums and in the faqs so you can learn a bit before asking things like this.

How do stickers add horsepower? Do they make the car more arodynamic?

Sorry...I don't know much about cars...I do know that stickers are more aerodynamic than paint...right? Cause they are slicker, so the air flows over them better.

i doubt anyone can hit the 12s with only $1500 invested in our cars.
There was a post about a guy that got into the 13s with $1500, but he used nitrous.
If you want to hit the 12s, you need to invest more money.

ok hes not joking. ok first of all, with our cars, theres no way you can really get enough power that airflow over the body is a major issue. a spoiler will not help, no downforce is needed because we have front wheel drive. if you want to increase your horsepower, read the performance faq and look at some posts. theres a ton of information available here, and people will be glad to help with all your questions. if theres something you dont get or want to know about, search before asking about it. dont pay attention to idiots who say stupid stuff and say you need apc stickers, etc... theyre just jerks to people who are new to modifying their cars.

don't forget, yellow stickers can add as much as 50 horsepoer if you put them on diagonally.

when you say low dollar, how much did you mean, by telling how much money you want or can put in your ride it will give a good idea for people here to help you out.

This would be funny if the joke wasn't played out by now. And if you are serious, go read the FAQ.

not at all...actually...in my current situation/offer...I could do 13's for 1500 bucks...including the car

sure you can get to 13's with only 1500.
just go steal a top fuel drag car
then go buy $1500 worth of fuel etc.

then you can even run what..... 6-7's!!!!!
