Secret Cam labor time

Anyone have a good estimate on this? The labor average in MA is $60 an hour, and the guy who 'looked it up' at his shop said he thinks it's going to take 8 hours, which would be $480... not including gaskets. Assuming he's perfectly capable, what kind of time are we really looking at?

8 hours is reasonable. Its just like replacing the stock cams, same labor time.

Drat, that's what I was afraid of. Should I buy gaskets ahead of time or just let him try to re-use what he can?

Get new gaskets, they are cheap, and its better than paying him another 8 hours of labor to replace them later.

I think the GM manual may have said 5 or 6 hour job. (I may be wrong but i thought that is what it said when i did the swap with some friends.

Haha no I'm not rich by any means, but I don't want to do it myself and screw up something, this car is my daily driver, and if I break it, I'm pretty much stuck with a '94 Suzuki Sidekick indefinitely. However, I am getting the secret cams for $75, so I really can't refuse the offer.... anyone capable in the tri-state area MA/NH/VT want to get together to actually do this swap?

labor time is the biggest knee jerk in the country, paying a gloirfied grease monkey to work for 60/hr. is bs. no offense to all you guys that are good with your hands, but we all know that of the 60/hr, you get maybe 20. thanks alot to all the helpless cell-phone brat chicks and old rich fogies for laying this one on us all.
