hey i have a 98 2200 with 92k on the clock and was considering in the near future rebuilding motor. it would be done profesionaly by machine shop and i was wondering if a goal of 170 hp is too high of a goal. if not then about how much would it cost. i want it to do this N/A. any parts i would need would also be helpful i work at a parts house so i plan on buying parts slowly. i bow to the knowledge of the site gurus

probaly more than you are willing to spend. with all the parts, time, and labor it will probaly end up costing a lot. but if you have the money to spend go for it. 170 hp out of a 2200 is not out of the question

build your own, save money.

my entire engine rebuild is in the low 2000$ range. i did my homework, i learned how things worked, and i found place that can get quality parts. took hours of reading posts on here, checking peoples registries and posts, but i did my homework.
if you take your time it can be done and its not really expensive. i can honestly say i know people who have spent over 2000$ in bolt ons such as 2-300$ intakes 200$ throttle bodies, 250$ header, 300$ exhausts, which equals about 1000$ already. then the pullies, ported intake manifolds, some even bought the BS jet chip crap, and some neons and speakers, and totalled upwards of 2500$
when they could have gotten a performance engine rebuild.
^ love the site Event.. friend of yours?

^ most of those bolt ons you can still use after all the internal work and get even more out of the rebuild... unless you wanna be on the down low...

true, but if people shopped around or did research, they;d know an intake being pipe and filter shouldnt be anything near 200$, 100$ at most and thats witha decent filter from K&N, throttle body, low 100$;s, jet chip not needed, neons and speakers... not necessary for those looking for performance.
alot of parts if people simply took 10 min extra could make their own, that does the same thing. but the honest majority tend to be lazy and just add what the local cletus tries to sell you to boost his profits
spend 500 bucks and get an eco and swap that in there

i am starting to think the cav is a lost cause it would be easier for me to get a camaro with like 295 stock oh well it was worth a try
getting a car that has power already is fine. that is not why we mod out cars we mod them because we like doing it.... if we wanted a stock 500hp car we could just buy one... that is your option also.

sorry i didnt mean to offend anybody i just want a fast car and that seems like a better option for me. i wasnt trying to say modding it is worthless but for some one like me with limited finances and patience a camaro is like istant gratification. so once again i apologize i had no itention of offending.
^ there was no offence taken
