I'm thinking either headers + magnaflow Exhaust
or
CAI + 62 mm Throttle Body?
What do you guys think would be best?
I have a 04' Chevy Cavalier with a 2.2 Ecotec 4cyl Auto.
If you start with the exhaust, only get one header.
If you start with an intake, you wont need a 62 mm throttle body. Thats too big for just an intake and you will lose torque.
Do the one you have enough money for: the exhaust will be more than the intake.
How about the header, Exhaust, and the TB?
I want a CAI but I'm also looking toward stronger, better upgrades. Like a turbo.
If I was going to get a turbo soon then I wouldn't want to waste the money for the CAI. So I guess the CAI would be last or atleast till I figure out how soon it would be before I get a turbo.
sit down, and realistically plan out what you wanna accomplish for it.
your first post you wanted basic boltons, then your second post you want a turbo...
of which you will not use the header, you will be using a turbo manifold...
you may can still use the intake, but will prob have to mod it a bit and you can actually utilize the 62mm tb even more.
and if you run turbo, you will prob not wanna be using the same size as you would if you were N/A naturally aspirated.
my honest advice would be to take a few hours, read through posts in here and the boost forum, read the FAQ;s in both (which are at the top of each forum) and realistically decide what you wanna do before settling on what to buy.
else you;ll end up buying stuff you prob wont use or not for long.

Thanks for the advice/help.
You pointed out a few very good things to me. I really appreciate that. I'll have to really think about a turbo.
I've been reading the forums for awhile now. Trying to figure out what would be best for me.
one thing to always remember in cars.... speed costs, how fast do you really wanna go?
You wanna go as fast as possible? Forged internals, aggressive cams, 12+ psi boost, and ween it onto nitromethane.
Seriously it's hard to say what to do first. If you wanna go boost, save up and get your head ported and polished. That'll make a difference N/A and will really help also once you boost it. After that, save up for your preferred method of boost and run a low PSI on it until you can get the engine modded to handle higher pressure. Once you go boost, it's a whole new world of stuff you'll really benefit from. But if you try to do the bolt-ons first, you're gonna end up being stuck with alot of parts you can't use anymore. I suppose you could buy the parts you'll need for the boost, but until you get it boosted, most of those will lose you power N/A.
So the big question is- do you really plan to boost, or would you rather stay N/A?
I may not be the sharpest crayon in the box, but at least I'm a pretty color
The more I think about boosting the less I want to do it
It does sound nice and I'm sure I would love the extra HP. But I'm not sure i want to spend that kind of money right now to do it. Getting a turbo doesn't seem cheap
But I'm sure you all know that...lol...

getting boltons isnt really gonna be cheap either. you can try and do as much on your own as you can, but it starts to add up.
some people buy things you can make for less, and it can add up quick.
you can get an Ebay intake for cheap. and have a machine shop bore out your TB to 59mm. then pick out a muffler, and have a local exhaust shop bend you some pipe and there is your new exhaust system. try Ebay for cheap header.
but gonig cheap, you get what you pay for
