Ok yesturday I put on my new cold air intake. I pulled out the "bong" and the box unit from up top, did all necessary removals, got new intake on hooked up 02 sencer and vent tube from valve cover, then re-installed battery. Started up the car sounds really good let it set at idol for maybe 10 mins. put up tools walk back over to car to take around the block, I sat down inside and my Trac off light was on.I thought since I have the B&M Shift Plus maybe I turned it on but it wasn't.drove arround the and the tranny(4SP AUTO) started shifting really fcked up then the check engine light came on with the trac off. Disconnected Neg from battery for 20 mins. it reset computer no prob. drove for 15 mins with it being reset, through same codes again.repeated battery disconnect started fine this mornning no code's. someone help please!!
sounds like code #1337-N355 - it means you should take off that spoiler
actually you probably have a problem with the B&M... try disconnected that and see if it fixxes your problem
i kno the auto's if you have the ebrake up even one click your track turns off but for the hard shifting i think its the B&M
The B&M has already been disconnected. I have disconnected the battery to reset the computer and the traction off light and the check engine light go off. Then you drive it for about 15-20 minutes and the traction off light comes back on and about 2-3 minutes later the check engine light comes on. This is when it starts shifting hard. It is fine until the traction off light comes on. The emergency brake is all the way down. I just don't have a clue what else it could be. Anyone have any more ideas?
your IAT sensor (the one plugged into the intake) either is broken, or you didn't connect it. when i was fiddlin around in the engine bay one day, i forgot to reconnect it, and got the SAME exact problems you did. reconnected it, and its all good

Ok! will take to auto zone to have Diagnostic done to find out what code has been thrown. Will post again tommorow. Oh I also checked the IAT it's still in the slot so will find out more tomm. Thanx Guy's!!
It set off these two codes
0113:Intake Air Temperature Circuit High Input.
0720:Malfunction Exists In The Electrical Circuit
For The Output Speed Sensor.
Think if I get another IAT sensor that this will stop the codes?
same thing happened to me when i did that. scared the hell outta me! thought my tranny was gonna drop out from under the car. my iat sensor wasn't in all the way. so i put it in, reset the computer and it still did it. took my car to the mechanic and all he did was replace the battery. it worked fine ever since. oh, the tranny was fine after fixing the sensor and resetting the battery. but the cel and trac light was still on. battery fixed them both. go figure
You think it's my battery?
Speed Sensor....hmmm, that MIGHT Have something to do with the B&M, not sure. As for the IAT sensor. Take it out and wash it with soap and water real good and reinstall it back into the intake. Make sure to clear the codes before you start..
BUT in most cases, when your CEL comes on and it shifts like a freak, its your IAT sensor. You either forgot to connect it or messed it up when you installed it into your new intake. Id still try cleaning it first though. It has worked for me before.
Also, im not sure how much they cost but if theyre over 10 bucks id go to a junk yard and see if you can check out there cavvys and whatnot. Then pop the hood and rip one out and throw it in your pocket. Then , thats it
Has worked for me many of times!!
Hey man I appreciate the strait forward reply. Will try to wash tomm. Where's a good cavy grave yard around here in D/FW area?(don't wan't to drive around for hour's.) Red,I know your up in north Tx. Do I have to get one from an 01 year model only?
I really dont think so. I think theyre the same from 2.2's - 2.4's.
Im thinkin my bros was the same in his grand am.
I'll be hittn' the junk today or tomm. so I'll let you know something later this eve.
SORRY!! I WILL NOT POST USING THOSE TERMS ANY LONGER. The car is fixed so I was Returning to post and say thanx for all the help guy's!!!
What ended up being the problem and how did ya fix it??
I craked my IAT sensor when i took it out I guess. Got a new one from the dealer ship for $20. I know I paid to much but the junks not open at night and Auto zone, Orielys didn't have my sensors in stock they said they could order from dealership for me so I just went there myself and got a brand new one. Got home unplugged the battery to reset the comp. then I had to fight the old senser back out of the sleeve got the new one in and hooked the batry back up and wala no more codes. But last knight while we where at the meet here in burleson my car started to overheat so I don't think my fan on my radiator is working will have to see later.
