2.2 non ecotec cam
Wednesday, April 27, 2005 12:23 PM
I'm going to rebuild my engine soon. I have a header and I want to port n polish the head and get a valve job. I can't find a cam for this engine. None of the recomended sites list a cam for this engine. Can anyone who has bought a cam tell me where they got it and how it worked? Is there a secret cam swap? I don't need a racing cam I just want a little better performance.
Thanks,
Paul

there are at least two good places to get a cam for the 2.2 OHV. The first being www.cavalierconnection.com and the second being www.jbodyperformance.com. There may be others but those are the first two that come to mind. I haven't personally purchased anything from JBP but at least three of my best friends have and they have all had great experiences and the quality was top notch.

You can purchase one of the cams from the two companies Jay mentioned above or if you have an extra cam (from a salvage yard) or a cam blank (available from dealerships?) you can hve them ground/reground from any of the major cam makers. The two I know who can do them are Crane Cams(1-386-258-6174, ask for Dave Maxwell, he did my cam) or Comp Cams( Cam Help Line:1-800-999-0853). Both will cost about $130 and take about a week to two weeks. When calling be sure to have info about what you have done to the car and what you plan on doing. Both will recommend the best cam profile for your car and are very reliable.
