I have a 95 2.2 and have heard that eliminating the ac gains a bit of hp back. What is the best way to do this... could i just buy a non ac belt and remove the ac altogether or is there a "right way"?
buy gm part #24575312 its the belt w/out ac..
Either buy a belt that doesnt wrap your AC, or jsut get a slip pulley for your AC.

Yep. All it does is shave a few lbs and make your car very uncomfortable in the summer.
This is something only people building dedicated race cars would want to do. Anyone else doing it for the performance gain is wasting their time and taking their car a big step backwards.
Could it cause problems if you bypassit using a belt?
What if your AC tries turning on (for example, you turn your defrosters on) and it cant cuz there is no belt. Does it throw a code? Or jsut not care?

^ Its all one belt, so you aren't removing a belt, you are removing a pulley and using a smaller belt. When you turn the A/C on, you aren't making another pully spin, you are simply engaging a clutch to drive a pump, the pulley is already spinning.
