I blew the engine in my 98 Z and need a new engine. Will the engine out of a 2000 olds alero work or what will need to be changed?

My new ones out of a 01 Alero. Just drill out the knock sensor and tap it for the 98 knock sensor. 10.5mm or 27/64th's tap is M12 x 1.25... Takes about 5min's.
Then use the exhaust gasket for a 98 if you keep the EGR...

Help me out fellow vert, where is the knock sensor located? Also what about part numbers and price? With the exhaust though, I( have an OBX header, will it not work? What else do I need?

the knock sensor is located on the back side of the block , near the belhousing and under the # 4 exhaust port
the 98 has a single plug the 99-02 have a 2 wire plug
ive got a 01 motor in my 97 , im using a 99 pcm , so i left the 99-02 knock sensor there , and i didnt use the egr
everything is there for it though
use the injectors and rail off your 98 motor , all the rest works
Header will work. 2000 computer you would have to get the BCM and all wiring harnesses, PITA, but then you could use the S/C reflash if you were going boosted...
