if you got a cherry picker..its not a big deal...but since you got a manual tranny....its easiest to pull from the top with the tranny attached...or from the bottom pulling the subframe...personally, I think from the bottom would be a lot easier. That way you don't have to pull the cv axles
autos are cake to pull the motor out of the top , if you leave the trans in
LOL
my friend just did his 2.2 5spd out the top went pretty quick
if u have a lift, bottom is really easy, unhook accels and stuff to the engine, and it will pop right out
i just pulled mine last thurs and it is a five speed and i pulled it from the top with out one problem at all. you just have to make sure you can lower you car som to about ride highth before the engine will lift out. i took out the sub frame on the drivers side just to make it easier to get to the tranny stuff and it isnt hard to take it off and you can even leave the cv in the nuckles. thats what i did. if you have any questions, just ask.
i ripped everything out like so....
and dropped the motor out of the bottom with the tranny, super easy

R.I.P. Brian Klocke, you will never be forgotten
dropped mine out the bottom. same as the other ones i was helping with.
just jack up the car, put it on jack stands as high as u can. un bolt everything. rip out the subframe( make sure to tie your rack and pinion up to something). then lower the engine/tranny out from the bottom.
cherry picker helps too. we had to use it to lift up my car to get the engine out from under neath it.
all and all it isnt that tough, great learning experience .
good luck
I always go from the top. Easy, leave the car on jack stand and lift the motor out.

Hey Chris, do you plan on keeping the 2.4? If not, do you wanna sell the throttle cable cover off of it? Or know where I can find one??
Nelson at RSM took my engine out from the top, and the 5spd transmission stayed inside the engine bay the whole time.
**if these car domain pics dont work.....well.....whatever...
notice in this pic the tranny is still in the engine bay....
