Motor Mounts installed -- Almost no vibrations?

OK, this weireded me out.

In my last Z24 (01 w/ i/e/tb) when I installed hte motor mounts teh car vibrated like a son of a b*tch. Dash, mirrors, seats, the whole inside shook. Im sure you guys can relate. I hated it lol.

So naturally with this car I got them again Odd thing is, this time around, almost no vibration at all. The dash doesnt even rattle, mirror hardly moves.... almost nada. If I didnt see the engine not move an inch, I would have almost thought they werent working.

So my question is, did they change something from the mounts from when I bought them the first time in 01 or 02?

They seem much more friendly now. If anyone complains about the vibes, they are serious p*ssies

Yea I know what ya mean. I remember that @ 40-50mph in 5th gear when I even trapped the thottle all hell broke loose in the cabin.... this car I did the same thing and just about nothing. Feel it more in the clutch pedal than anything else. Oh well cant complain.

Didnt they change hte bushings?

i know the older RK sport motor mounts were made outta harder stuff. I swapped from a old RK mount to a new Prothane one and vibrations went away.

maybe that is the case, your old car u just had some stiffer RK mounts.

I have gone through the original RK hard as a rock mounts and the MP softer bushing mounts and my car rattles like a mofo with both. I have been in other cars with the original RK mounts and it was smooth as can be. It is just the luck of the draw if you happen to have one of the smooth engines or not.

i think you just ended up with softer bushings. were the bushings by any chance yellow instead of red?

I have had RK upper/lower in my car for about a year and everything rattled like a MO-Fo when I origionally put them and the motor seemed louder and shook the whole car when starting it up.

But over time the vibs have gotten less. Dont really notice them anymore. Once thing that could possibly be an issue for such mixed results is people not torqueing things back to spec. I got the torque specs from my GM dealer for the upper and lower mounts and everything shook like a mo-fo. Go Figure.
