i wanna know guys if i should pay over 300$ for a complete intake on my 2.2 ecotec or
just put a k&n filter in the stock intake can give a result.

dont pay $300 make your own
Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!
you can buy intakes off of ebay for $20-$30, plus a $20-$25 ship, but still is cheap

not for the eco you can't, the ebay intake is 65 bucks plus shipping and as far as i know it doesn't go to the throttle body, but to the box on top of the tb, which means IMO its garbage. I'd say either make your own intake or get an off the shelf one from a good manufacturer

I would never pay $300 for an intake and neither should you. Here is this one for just under $200 and it's an AEM
INTAKE
or buy a 2.4 and chop it to make it fit.

Check the group purchase forum. There is a special on the Secret Weapon R intake.
I dont mean to jack the thread, but 99redz24 mentioned that an intake will make a car sound cool.
how exactly does it affect the sound, and what does it sound like?
Does the sound differ between a short ram and long ram?
Do not buy an air intake from ebay unless it is a short ram. I bought a Bomz Racing cold air intake off of ebay and had to turn it into a short ram because they sent me a Civic Long ram intake. I got it to fit and it sounds good and looks good, but the performance value wuz terrible. I paid around $45 for it including shipping. My advice is not to be a tight wad and buy a quality intake. You will be happier in the end. Trust me.
I got my short-ram intake at AutoZone for $30. See pics on my website - link under sig.
The filter is a Spectra brand, $25. Its cotton.
K&N is just a name... They say their filters are so much better cuz they are cotton and you can reuse them... Well mines cotton too and Ive washed it twice and its still lookin and working like new.

So take off the box, get a rubber elbow & connect the intake directly to the throttle body. You recommend making your own intake, but write off the ebay intake as garbage when it can easily be made to fit.

ok, so its not exactly garbage, but i haven't seen an elbow that would fit right, its a funny shaped elbow to fit over the throttle cable bracket.......i suppose you could trim that bracket down, but i don't have the tools for that. guess i should have said that an intake designed to hook to that box is a bad design, may as well remove the stock airbox and shove a filter on the s tube
