I got a 2200 Fire. What kind of gain would I see...or not see if I put on crank and alternator pulleys? Low end, hp, faster revs...stuff like that?
Thailand...yes, its a country...no, not Taiwan...
Oh and I forget, I have a 500 watt amp in the back. Will the alternator pulley affect my stereo system? Its not a huge wattage system, but I'd like to know what the cutoff is.

Get an optima battery yellow top to go with the pulleys and you will not have problems with the battery dying. Underdrive pulleys do not gain you any true hp they just let you unrestrict the hp that you already had. They truely affect the car at higher rpms, also if you had a high amp alternator they would prvent you from blowing fuses at high rpms. Your engine will feel more responsive, so they are worth the investment.
What fuses would I blow at high RPMs? Isn't the alternator putting out a lesser charge? Also, would the optima battery just be for the benefit of the stereo? I didn't think there would be so many consequenses.

blowing fuses with an underdrive pully? never heard of that happening. but i guess anything is possible.
an optima yellow top allows you to play the stereo for long period of time without having the batery go dead
Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!
Thanks for the info. For the time being, i'll probably stick with the regular battery. Hell, I just got it and I'm not usually in my car for long periods of time. I also have a cap for the amp, so that will probably help the battery situation.

hm....i put pullys on and felt nothing...might want to concider putting the money else where..but mine is on a 2.2ohv...maybe the 2200 will have diffrent results
I would buy pulleys elsewhere. Mantapart will take your money and ship your product. If you have a problem with that product, like say it goes on a different car or is jacked up, they won't return emails, when they do it's a monthly digest of what they are doing to fix it. Say parts that are going to be overnighted back in January and are still not delivered.
I have a stage 3 clutch thats collecting dust. Has been since December 13th. There pressure plate is jacked up and now they won't take care of my problem, I just get lame excuses or no answers.
The last lame excuse was yesterday when a friend emailed them about internals and then told them its funny they'd email him back when he was going to throw money down but they wouldn't return my email.
I have most of my emails between them if you care to read them.
Just a FYI, do what you want.

Without using an underdrive pulley you may risk blowing some fuses and overloading the electrical in your car at higher rpm's. This is due to the alternator pulley spinning much faster the intended and overloading the system. THIS IS NOT ALWAYS THE CASE. However, if you have an underdrive pulley you will no longer have to worry about this.
As for not doing much, this is true. THEY DO NOT GIVE YOU MUCH HP, rather free up the hp that you already have. Instead of using alot of power to turn the alternator and powersteering pump the underdrive pulley will allow you to use it to turn the crank faster. This will give you a slight gain in hp i.e. 7 horses at the crank, not the wheels. This turns out to be about 4 hp at the wheels, which is why it's not noticable.
Later on when and if you decide to build up your engine the 4 hp will increase since the power of the engine its self has increased.
The optima battery that I was talking about is a great solution to the radio and instrument cluster dimming when the bass is turned up. It is not a wet cell battery, rather gell filled causeing it to not lose power easily and it also takes very little power to stay charged. They also DO NOT leak.
Buy through a reliable source, mantapart makes awesome products but thier customer service sucks. Try rk sport or carcustoms.net.
I bought my pullies from RSM never had a problem
