JBP does both 95-97 and 98+ cams. But really, why are you asking us? They have an e-mail address. Personally, I'd be more willing to believe what the company says they offer rather than some dudes off a car forum.

Have you ever done it with the engine still in the car? Most every, EVERY experienced 2200 owner has said you can't do it through the wheel.

i'd say you can't do it without removing the head

Re: 2200 cam

you can see here just how close it would be.. but the square hole is above the wheel well, so it won't clear by maybe 2" unless you wanta go sawzaing on your wheel well... wich is ghetto

my first post, i meant, without removing the engine, not the head, lmfao, thats dumb.. typo

Bah, remove the upper and lower mounts (with a jack under the engine of course) then lower the engine enough to get it in.

So has anyone actually done this, or is it all speculation?

I'm having the J Body Performance stage 1 cam swapped into my 2200 next month. The guy at the shop that is gonna do the swap said hes just gonna pull the motor to do it, since it seems thats gonna be the easiest way to perform the swap. Besides, as long as you have an engine hoist, its not that hard and doesn't take to long to unbolt and pull the motor.

You have to remove the head and remove the lifters before you can remove the cam, if you unbolted the upper and lower mounts, dropped the engine down alittle and removed the intake and exhaust and head im sure you could do it with the engine in the car, but much easier to just remove the engine and put it on a stand, that way to get all the gaskets sealed up real good and dont have any leaks.
