i was at the wreakers today and found a 1990 Beretta GTZ and it has the 2.3 engine, but someone took the IDI cover so i couldn't tell, here is a pic and let me know if its a HO or LO, if its a HO i can use the Maninfold, if its a LO, can i use the cam for a Secret cam swap for a 99 2.4?
It is an HO.
Just look at the VIN number the 8th digit.
If it is an LO it is going to be D if it is HO then it will be A.
I am 99% sure it is an HO tho.

here is another angle, and yes the 8th digit is A....thanks guys
so i guess the only thing i can take from this motor is the intake and TB?
what about the Crank shaft pully, i heard it make a improvment on the 2.4....
opps here is the link ..........
well if its in a GTZ they only came with HO motors, so unless someone replaced it with a LO then it has to be an HO, also the crank pulley should work, i forget what year is the one you want. But yea take the manifold and TB off it, and if the crank pulley is the right one take that too.

it said GTZ but it was a clear sticker on the bumper, said "GTZ 2.3 16 vavle"
does anyone know any info on the crank pully? and i guess the cams from this engine wont work for the Secret cam Swap
The clear sticker with grey letter saying "Gtz" and red letter saying "2.3 16 valve" is the OEM sticker for the Gtz. So it's "suppose" to be an Ho.
We have little info we can use to identify the engine or the manifold.
First - just by seeing the picture we can see it's a 87-91 engine because of the fuel pressure regulator. Being a Gtz, it between 90-91
Second - 90-91 Lo had Ho manifold on them.
Third - since it's an Ho, the exhaust cam is not the one needed for the secret cam swap
The Ho pulley you want is the 90-91 Ho pulley. The one on that engine is what you want. You can mesure it. It's suppose to be 140mm.
If someone has any other question can email me. I'm out of post for this month.

2.3 Ho
i just took the intake off the GTZ and i noticed something weird, its a oval port, i was expecting it to have that bump that i would have to dremal off, but it was smooth and the head port was also oval....and it doesn't look like it was grinded off, can anyone explain this....Its going on a 2.4L
Look at the PS belt. Thats cool.

2.3 motors have oval shaped intake ports. the 2.4 have the bump. you are supposed to grind your cylinder head to eliminate that bump when you do the 2.3HO intake manifold swap.

"What are we going to do tonight?"
"The same thing we do every night, try to make the SVC go faster!"
thanks, i just fount the link on how to do it, but it says to grind the manifold to match the 2.4, not grind the head to match the manifold. does it make a difference?
