hey i got the 2200 in my 01 sunfire and i just go the intake in it but the air box is still in the car bc i cant get it to come out wut do i do to get it out take the battery out then how many srews is there and wut stays and wut goes. also does the intake make my gas miles lower my car seemed to suck gas this week i filled it on thursday and it was out today and i didnt do that much driveing?
your getting in the gas harder, because you like the sound, thats why your gas miliage sux, as for taking it out, it comes out from behind the fender lining,
On the 2200 engine there a several bolts. To get the air box out there is a bolt hidden under the lower bottom side of the fuse box, and then there are 3 others if i remember correctly. Just look around, the others are easy to see. Then after you get them out, it will take a little wiggle to get the bottom piece off the air bong behind the battery.
And your gas milage is bad because if you can Hear the noise your intake is making, your on the gas tooo much.

If the intake on the 2200 is similar to the romoval of an intake on a 2.4 there's a section of airbox "bolted" to your windshield fluid reservoir behind the wheel well lining/front driver side bumper.
I actually removed the whole unit after removing the inner wheel well lining and half the front bumper. I only removed the 5 push clips in the front grill, and the 2 bolts inside the fender after removing the wheel lining.
I couldn't figure out an EASY way to seperate the airbox part that's bolted to the washer fluid reservoir, so I used a little back and forth motion. It didn't seem to unscrew for me, so I pulled and rotated the two until they came apart.
Have fun with this one, if someone knows an easier way, let me know, I love learning the easy way to do things after I did it the hard way

Mine wasn't bolted down, but then again, most of my car is missing bolts by now anyway. I just realized the other day that my coolant tank isn't bolted down either. Not sure about that one, but hey, it hasn't came out yet.

Mine was the same way. I actually just finished taking out my airbox to put an intake in(though it didnt fit). But, remove the battery. take out the filter, pull, mine slid right out.

Everything holding the airbox in is either plastic clips, or screws into plastic peices... so find all the screws you can, take em out. Find all the clips you can, undo them. Then pull... you can brake everything else if you dont plan on putting it back in.
But, if you dont want to break it... I know there;s screws/clips below the battery, fuse box, and maybe one where the airbox wraps around the strut tower.
Thats for a cavi, I dont know how different the sunfire set up would be.

I just bought the weapon r dragon intake for my '03 ecotec, the one problem i can see is that the clutch fluid reseviour is connected to the factory air box which will come out when the new intake goes in. where the hell will i mount the clutch fluid reseviour?

zip tie it to the metal circle where the factory box was mounted in..thats what i did

saterday im takeing it out do u have to do anything with the fuse box just leave that alone? once its gets warm here in CT i have to wash my motor down i had a BAD oil leak and its all overs the motor its brown. ill post a pic up on they site when its done for everyone to see it or ill update my cardomain site thats the site check it out ill update is soon i got s pic of the motor up there see how bad it is.

LOL i no i dont show off my motor bc its so nasty looking im going to power wash it this summer i got the oil leak fixed bc it was leaking onto my muffler so it would smell. lol i would go to the mall and park all the way in the back so ppl didnt smell the oil my friends didnt like to walk so far lol . my axle seal was leaking thats wut the dealer said so they fixed it and its been good ever sence.

Chris- Yes, you need to remove the fuse box. The fuse box is held in with 2 screws (or clips) one in front and one in back.
Im not sure if the airbox has clips under the fusebox tho, you may just need to remove it because its in the way.

yeah they relive allot stress don't ya know
the fuse box will have a push/ clip, when its pushed in it will be locked in place. put a screw driver under the smaller head and pry it up a bi. you can either pull it with your fingers or pliers once the top is up you can remove the whole piece and then from the front lift the fuse box. it has a tab/slot at the back that you will be able wiggle it out of there when you raise it, i don't remember if there is one screw on the side of the air box assembly that connects it to the lower half. lovingly referred to as the "bong".
Ah yes... when refering to the airbong, when speaking, pleace use a low and echoey voice. Make you "bong" sound like a big Chinese "gong" but with a b instead of a g.

LOL yea it snowed here last night and i just waxed the car i dont want to drive it today now . for the intake wut do i do with it when i take the box out bc its just going to sit on the fender its not really that tight in there right now the air box it holding it up so i would have to tie it to something?
What kind of intake is it?
If its a short-ram like mine...
... It will just screw on and hang, and it will be ok. Mine kinda rests on some plug going into the top of my ignition module, so its kinda handy.
If you got a cold-air intake, it should'nt be hanging lol.

it looks just like yours i think its a ram air it siting right on top of the whole where the air filter goes into the air box the faster i get that out the better the filters hiting my hood. i need a rubber plug or something to put in the whole where the sencer goes its just siting in there right now havent found anything to whole it in there yet got any ideas.
