What have you done to it? Do you have all of your sensors in? How are you driving it, hard or normal, because that is a huge factor. And everyday . Damn

i can get about 38mpg if I drive 65 on the higways and follow the speed limit. If i get into it I'm lucky to pull 28mpg 2003 Pontiac Sunfire 38K miles

intake and exhaust and "air" mods like that generally should lean it out therefore getting more hp and better gas mileage, highest ive ever observed was 37 and at the time all i had was an intake and tb, its been very poor of late due to my bad driving and an 02 sensor problem

holy crap i got on 03 ecotec with 15k and an aem intake. i don't drive it that hard but i'm lucky if i get 24-25mpg with 50/50. i guess me doing 80 for a half hour each way to work doesn't help. but i cant believe i lost 10 mpg just because of that. when did you guys get 30+ mpg? was it during summer?

On the highway with the cruise on going 75 I get usually about 34. I got 38 one time last summer. This was after I rebuilt the top end and was during the summer time. I almost pissed my pants when I did the math on it. I calculate mpg every time I fill up and that 38 was a record.

I have an 03 cavalier automatic and I get 30 highway right now. I drive about 40 miles one way to work on the highway. The cold weather makes your gas mileage change alot also. You didnt say what your gas mileage is. Did you check it?

i'm the same way. i'm excited if im getting 25 mpg with 15k, my owners manual says expected mpg is like 24/26 you guys must never take your car over 2000 rpms to get 38 mpg... lucky!!

Luck you all. I get about 18-20mpg i drive about 2 miles to work but i live in a place that has a bit of hills. The best gas mileage i got on my car was 35-36mpg but last road trip i got 28mpg which sucks.

Wow i remember the days of good gas mileage... i use to get 560km's (350miles) to a tank of gas in my 2.4L... now since i have the supercharger and a other parts on i get about 450-480km's (281-300miles) if i am lucky and thats with going easy on it all the time, and maybe 3 or 4 times i put the pedal down just to hear the supercharger whine.

I have an 04' Cav 4 door that is bone stock and I am getting about 33-37 mpg. I drive almost all highway. One round trip to work and back is just over 60 miles for me. I do little city driving during the week. The weekend is a different story.
Re: gas mileage

@!#$, seriously, I'm getting like 230 miles for an entire tank of gas. The car just passed inspection and emmisions yesterday. WTF I can't even take it back to the dealer yet because I lost my stock intake somewhere and they will void my warrenty if they see my weapon-r. What can I do??

Re: gas mileage

Mike don't feel bad..

I just bought my 2004 cav in July and i get like 260 to a tank and that I with 30 miles one way to work on highway. If i knew that this was this bad on gas i would have kept my truck.

Re: gas mileage
Wednesday, March 23, 2005 12:43 PM
I always thought my car was bad on gas mileage... but the rating is 22 mpg for the city and 30 for highway (according to edmunds.com). I keep a spreadsheet for all my gas receipts to check on my mpg and how it varies through the months... so far the average this year is 24.13 for driving 1964 miles... (mix of highway and city) so I guess that isnt too bad (its an automatic too)

Ok, I just drove over to AutoZone and they scaned the codes for free and said nothing showed up it "passed" the test. This is really starting to piss me off, 17mpg is crap, its as bad as my dads V8 explorer! Are there any professionals that can help me out here and give me some suggestions. I reaalllly dont want to take it back to the dealer because they will void my warranty and my dad will find out. Also because I'm leaving to go back to Boston at the end of the week. Is there anyway to test specific parts? I allready replaced the IAT sensor a few months ago. Any help would be much appreciated, I really dont want to pay double for my trips to boston and back to pittsburgh.

Re: gas mileage

he mike the dealer CAN NOT void your warrenty for an intake. it's against the law, i dont remember the name but if you have something that fail they have to prove that it's the aftermarket part that made the thing fail. Good luck to them telling you that your intake broke a sensor... )

I agree with McBsunfgt, the dealer shouldnt void your warranty for an intake.

I too have that intake and my dealer didnt void the warranty when I took it in for a problem.

If you're really worried about it, I have some suggestions... you could call your dealer and ask if an aftermarket intake will void the warranty (if they are really anal, just act like you are thinking about getting one) or if you know anyone with the same generation j-body just borrow theirs.... all in all, good luck to ya
