yes we swapped the cluster and we did put the key in forward for 20 minutes, not thirty minutes. Who else has done this swap and can prove it with pictures.....(from a 2.2 ohv automatic to a 2.2 ecotec manual)
BOOOOOOOOOST!
If you can afford to buy a newer Cavalier then why bother doing a swap and costing more money? Why don't you just save yourself around a $1000 and just buy a stick?
Hey Todd F.U.C.K off
BOOOOOOOOOST!
wtf crawled up your ass and died?
Nothing just sick and tired of playing games so to avoid any confusion on what im about if you are gonna make a commit and think im playin i just squash it before it even starts i just like everyone else on here customize my car and for anyone to ask a question like he did is like saying why spend all that money on a cavalier when you can buy a used vette well that not what its about when you are customizing your car its about taking pride in what you drive and not just buying it already done up my the dealer or manufacter or just saying f.u.c.k. it buy a car with a stick and save no my car is now unique there are only maybe 5 or 6 other cars with the auto to manual swap how many people can say they have done it or have something of that caliber unique in there car so once again Todd F.U.C.K off.

Okay 777Cavy, Calm down. First of all I have done this swap, Suncavi has done the swap (except he didnt swap everything like i did. I have pics of my motor in the car but with the auto tranny. I dont have the 5 speed in yet. My engine blew and I am almost completed the race build up i am doing. Also. You didnt specify. What exactly did you do for your swap. I see yours is a 00 so you you shouldnt have to swap out the body harness or the fuel system or gauge cluster.
Do you have the engine harness wired up for a manual trans? If not then you could be having problems there. Also your computer might not be the same as the ecotec computer, unless you swapped that in also. If so and it was an auto ecu, yes it will have to be reflashed at the dealer for the manual. When trying to reset the theft system on the 00+ cars you will have to leave the car on for 30 mins not 20. without opening a door or messing with anything in the car. Dont remove the key just shut it off and then proceed to start the car. Should fire up after a few tries if there is no fuel in the flex fuel lines going to the rail. Another thing I want to add is this. That motor is very sensitive. After installing the fuel rail from my spare motor I had torn an o-ring on one of the fuel injectors. Car wouldnt fire up at all. I checked everything, even the injector harness turns out all I had to do was replace an o-ring (15 cent part stopped it from running) .

2.2 Ecotec Swap Completed!!!
97ecotec we got the car to start. I had to get the ecu flashed i do have the computer for the ecotec motor i have two ecotec ecu's the car runs now i have to put the aem cold air intake on and i do have a bypass valve which i am having trouble figuring out where it will be placed also im waitin on my parts for the shifter cables that hook into the tranny to be mounted so i can change gears also this is what i did:
First removed the 2200 that i had then we welded in the tranny mounts then we put in the ecotec motor swappin out the ecu and the gauge cluster the got the ecu flashed dont know why it wouldnt start but once we did that it started and runs but didnt let it run to long without the intake on tonight we plan on putting on the intake monday the part for the transmission will go on and the exhaust will be welded on. then test drive...
Really im a nice person but like anyone else i dont take no mess from nobody who is going to be dumb about things when there is no reason to be.
BOOOOOOOOOST!
hey What you wanna do with your car is your business. I'm glad you take pride in your car. That's a good thing! Hey I thought about doing it for one of my cars that I used to have. at that time I needed my car so I didn't do it because of the time it would take to get done and also the cost involved. I was working 2 jobs at the time so I didn't have time to play around. And if you got the money and want to do it..........do it. So if I offended you I'm sorry........................Screw you guys............I'm goin' home!!!!
