hey im wanting to get an intake manifold for my 98 2.4. i was looking at venom but they are very expensive. i dont want the hassels of the 2.3HO. i was talking to a guy about the rsm manifold and he said there is no performance differnce with this intake. However thats not what rsm claims. do you know of any good intake manifolds that would provide some more performance? thanks
Unless you do a 2.3 or venom no. You can look at your intake manifold and see that it is plastic and tell me what more can you do to it unless you make a mold. The only thing that we have come up with is that some intake manifold have this lip on the inside of the opening that you can easily dremel out. We are thinking that is the great mod. Look at the opening and you will see there is really hardly any material to bore out.

but anyway like i said, even with the 2.3 there really are no big performance gains, only like 1-2 HP or something if that, its more for looks, cuz when you pwdercoat those things, damn, its hot
with the venom, i have no idea, i have never had any experience with it, never even seen one
Isn't RSM's intake supposed to be paired with their 62mm throttle body?

RSM is just a stock manifold that is bored to 62mm at the plenum. The venom is my favourite pick....sorry I`m actually just posting cuz navy cav said he never seen a venom intake. I can agree the price is too high but I got a good deal and love it.

with the rsm lip all that is bored is the lip off the very top of the plenum, less than an inch bored, all it really is bored for is safety reasons, so that the new butterfly plate doesnt get jammed in that upper lip and make you drive into a brick wall

so i guess the next question should be is it worth it and is it just better doing it yourself. and if its your doing it what exctly do you do?
I got a Venom as well but I can't get a bigger pic of my engine bay yet. The pic in my profile is from a phone camera. I have a digital camcorder so when I get home for 2 weeks in August ( i hope) I should have better pics of my car that you can enlarge. Then when I'm out of the army next June I'll put some videos up so y'all can hear how my car sounds. It don't sound like a bumble bee! My father in law put my manifold on and he said it made a good difference.
so what would you recommend getting for an intake manifold?

recommendation it is not worth it. If you must look at your intake manifold opening and if you see what looks like a lip that prevents it from being round you can just dremel it out. You will need to take it off and do it so you don't get any shavings in the engine

ya know...someone on here posted dyno numbers of before and after using just the LO 2.3 manifold and TB and he had a 10hp gain...dont know what difference the HO mani would make but it sure seems worth while.

That was with the 56mm TB as well, what we don't have is a dyno of the stock IM with a 56mm TB to actually tell what gains are attributable to the LO IM alone.

say you got picture in your registry, The pictures I got in mine are from a cell phone. When you click on them they get slightly larger. How would you enlarge them through the ORG if possible? you know without getting brand new pics.
i have to rsm intake manifold and the throttle body and it did give me quite a gain in response and hp gain from what i can feel. my advice would be to either but a rsm throttle body and drimmel the im yourself or bore your tb at a machine shop but then you are with out a car. and also, dont forget that you will notice it more if you other stuff done like a header and full exhaust too.
