Does anyone know who makes a underdrive crank pulley for a 1999 cav. z-24 2.4l motor. I've looked on the net and I can't find any crank pulleys just alt. pulleys.

go on ebay and they are like 50 dollars or so. i got one from there and it works fine. you have to get a smaller belt when you put it on though.

Has anyone heard of the BOMZ underdrive pulleys? Are they any good? I found some on ebay but I have never heard of them, and they are only like $60. Any info would be great.

RK sport and AEM i believe make underdrive, RSM Racing also makes one, they are all higher quality than bomz

Underdrive unless your building a race car is a bad idea, if you plan on running any electrical accessories your hurting things alot , big stereo forget it

I use the unorthodox one, aem doesnt make one ^^^ and on side note some of the ebay pulleys actually are the rk sport ones but some may not be perfect just be careful and ebay products are usaully fine. I have never had a problem with them.

I don't remember who makes what pulleys for the 2.4L, but the are quite a few out there(see Events Sticky at the top of this forum or use the search button).
Some pulleys are stock diameter, but light weight. This allows for quicker revs. There are just the smaller performace pulleyswich reduce some of the parsitic horsepower loss, but if you have a moderately powerful stereo, you wont make enough power to keep up with the stereo. Then there are kits that have a smaller alternator pulley, that maintain approximately the same rpm on the alternator to produce the same power. If you have a stereo, run the kit, otherwise you be fine with just the pulley.

underdrive pulleys dont hurt anything. You're alternator will charge fine if its in good condition.

and no they do not make your car spin bearings. the 2.4 does that on its own because it has a crappy oiling system. I've had a UR pulley in excess of 100,000 miles and over 3 years. nothing has happened.

UR and RSM make the better ones.

Cool so if I buy an underdrive pulley my car will be ok if I put a stereo in it? Its not a big one just 2 10's with a small amp. I will have to look again to see if they are underdrive pulleys or just lightweight pulleys. If I can do it I want to while I have the motor out.

If you're thiking about getting a stereo, go ahead and get the pulley kit. You"ll keep the same amperage from your alternator and still get the HP saving benefits of the underdrive pulley.

Stay away from Darklazer pullies on ebay. They look sweet, but are not evenly balanced. I would not want anyone else lose a belt or anything worse because of it.
