Ok now don't kill me for asking this. I am just wondering cause I would like a 5 speed in mine since I am going to be racing it, although I have heard that an automatic is just as good if not better. I was wondering if that was true or not and if the 5 speeds are better for racing then does anyone have one for sale close to me?? Like I said don't kill me just wondering. I read this on another forum that I am on talking about sbc's and things like that.

Depends on what kind of racing. Autos are more consistent on a dragstrip, they suck on an autocross course, or road course. Course, I have 5 speeds that did well at both, specifically my subaru Impreza Rs.
It will be used for drag racing and just a trip around the town when I feel like it.
Auto will be more consistent in Drags, but not as fast as a manual, without significant upgrades.

If I keep the auto that's in it what all kinda upgrades would I need to do to it?
Would it be easier and cheaper to just put a 5 speed in it?
well a 5 speed will beat out an auto up until you are pushing like 500 horsepower then I would go with auto matic or that GM hydramatic tranny. I have seen that thing in action first hand. it handle 960 hp and was able to run a 9.4 in the 1/4 mile
