hi there.. its a bit hard to explain but the problem here is that my rear rights dont work, its a weird problem, cuz only the directional lights dont work, the night lights DO work (i mean in the same bulb, only one filament works, but none is broken). First the right side directional stopd working, and when i wiggled it a bit to take out the bulb to replace it, it suddenly started working, the same thing happened to the other side and i just wiggled a bit the socket and the wires and it workd fine again... few days later they stoped working both sides and i couldnt make it work again.. i repeat, the night lights are ok, its just the directional lights.. what can i do, is it a wiring problem or what? the bulbs seem fine n i dunno what to do, im no electric guy hehe :p thanks in advance!
btw a bit off topic, my car throws out gray smoke at WOT.. lots, it doesnt have cat, but what is wrong? is it normal?
thnx 4 ur time guys!
For the lights you would have to check voltage with a volt meter before and after the socket for the light bulb, also just because you don't see a break in the filet doesn't mean it isn't broken with a hairline split.
blue smoke - oil being burnt
white smoke - coolant being burnt
black or greyish smoke - incomplete fuel combustion
for greyish smoke it could be
Engine too cold (no repair needed)
Clogged air filter
fuel injection or emission system faulty
Blocked manifold
? I assume that ur hazard switch is a separate button. If ur hazard switch makes ur rear turn signals flash its not a electrical issue, such as bad sockets that the bulb goes into,or a wiring issue at the tail lights. My best electrical knowledge would indicate the arm on ur steering column that operates the signals is faulty. If ur front turn signals work fine (which they would blink fast bc the rear is not working) rule out the arm on the steering column.U may have a short in ur wiring in the rear only that controls the rear turn signals since they are electrically tied together to work in conjucntion with each other.Check UR sockets individually to ensure the terminals down inside are not BLACK or burnt looking.IF they are while ur parking lights may work the terminal for the turn signal side may be FRIED.Just replace the sockets, advance or auto zone may carry these, worst case ur lovely gm dlr.Check for power on the specific wire that operates the signals not the parking lights.Oh does ur turn signal flasher work ,like clicking or make noise as it should when ur use them,if not replace the flasher should fix it.I realize this is a book but it is alot to consider based on ur problem.OK
